🌾 Nobody talks about THIS side of farming.

Social media shows you the beautiful harvest photos, the healthy flocks and the big smiles. But let me be honest with you today β€” farming is NOT always pretty. πŸ™

The reality of farm life is:

πŸ”Έ Waking up before the sun rises EVERY single day β€” weekends included
πŸ”Έ Walking into your poultry house and finding a dead bird with no explanation
πŸ”Έ Spending money on feed, medication and vaccines before you spend on yourself
πŸ”Έ Worrying about disease outbreaks in the middle of the night
πŸ”Έ Standing in the heat, the dust and the smell β€” and doing it all over again tomorrow
πŸ”Έ Watching a batch you worked so hard on not perform the way you hoped
πŸ”Έ Explaining to people why you chose THIS life when they don't understand it

And yet β€” every single morning I show up. πŸ’ͺ

Because farming also means:

βœ… Watching tiny day-old chicks grow into strong market-ready birds
βœ… The satisfaction of a good harvest after weeks of hard work
βœ… Building something with your own hands that feeds families
βœ… Teaching the next generation that hard work pays off
βœ… Knowing that what you do MATTERS

Farming chose me just as much as I chose farming. πŸ™

If you are a farmer reading this β€” I see you. The early mornings, the sleepless nights, the losses and the wins. You are not alone and your work is not in vain. 🌾

Keep going. The harvest is coming. πŸ’ͺ

🐣 DAY 12 UPDATE β€” The 3G Daily Flock! πŸ“Š

Can you believe it? Our little ones are already 12 days old and the transformation is INCREDIBLE! πŸ™

From tiny fragile day-old chicks to active, feathering broilers β€” this is exactly why we love this journey! πŸ”₯

πŸ“‹ Day 12 Farm Report:
βœ… Birds are active & feeding well
βœ… Water intake is strong
βœ… Feathers coming in nicely
βœ… Brooder temperature gradually reducing
βœ… Litter dry & clean
βœ… No signs of disease β€” Healthy flock! πŸ™

πŸ’‘ At Day 12 we are:
πŸ”Έ Transitioning from maximum brooder heat
πŸ”Έ Monitoring feed consumption closely
πŸ”Έ Watching for any early signs of health issues
πŸ”Έ Keeping biosecurity tight β€” no unnecessary visitors!

Every day on this farm is a blessing and we are grateful for every single bird in this batch! πŸ™

We are documenting this entire journey from Day 1 to Harvest Day right here on The 3G Daily Flock β€” make sure you are following so you don't miss a single update! πŸ“²

πŸ’¬ How is your current batch doing? Drop your Day update in the comments β€” let's grow together! πŸ‘‡

⚠️ Your birds can't talk β€” but their bodies are ALWAYS sending you a message.

The question is β€” are you paying attention?

Every year, thousands of farmers lose entire batches to diseases that could have been caught early. The difference between a small treatment cost and a total wipeout is KNOWLEDGE. πŸ“š

Today at The 3G Daily Flock, we're breaking down the most common broiler diseases, their symptoms and what you should do. Save this post β€” it could save your flock! πŸ™

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
πŸ”΄ 1. NEWCASTLE DISEASE (ND)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
πŸ“Œ What it is: A highly contagious viral disease that attacks the nervous & respiratory system

⚠️ Symptoms:
πŸ”Έ Twisting of the neck & head
πŸ”Έ Paralysis of legs & wings
πŸ”Έ Greenish watery droppings
πŸ”Έ Labored breathing & coughing
πŸ”Έ Sudden drop in feed & water intake
πŸ”Έ High mortality rate

βœ… What to do: Vaccinate! ND has NO cure β€” prevention is the only weapon. Report outbreak to your vet immediately.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
πŸ”΄ 2. GUMBORO DISEASE (IBD)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
πŸ“Œ What it is: A viral disease that destroys the immune system of young chicks (most common at 3–6 weeks)

⚠️ Symptoms:
πŸ”Έ Sudden depression & weakness
πŸ”Έ Whitish or watery diarrhea
πŸ”Έ Chicks pecking at their own vent
πŸ”Έ Ruffled feathers & drooping head
πŸ”Έ Dehydration & high mortality

βœ… What to do: Vaccinate at Day 10 & Day 21. Keep litter dry β€” the virus survives in wet litter for months!

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🟠 3. COCCIDIOSIS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
πŸ“Œ What it is: A parasitic disease caused by wet & dirty litter conditions

⚠️ Symptoms:
πŸ”Έ Bloody or brownish droppings
πŸ”Έ Pale comb & skin
πŸ”Έ Loss of appetite
πŸ”Έ Huddling together
πŸ”Έ Slow weight gain

βœ… What to do: Keep litter DRY at all times. Use anticoccidial drugs as directed by your vet. This disease is 100% preventable with good management!

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🟠 4. CHRONIC RESPIRATORY DISEASE (CRD)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
πŸ“Œ What it is: A bacterial respiratory disease triggered by poor ventilation & ammonia buildup

⚠️ Symptoms:
πŸ”Έ Sneezing & coughing
πŸ”Έ Nasal discharge
πŸ”Έ Rattling or gurgling breathing sound
πŸ”Έ Swollen face or eyes
πŸ”Έ Reduced feed intake & slow growth

βœ… What to do: Improve ventilation immediately. Treat with antibiotics prescribed by your vet. Manage litter to reduce ammonia.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
🟑 5. SALMONELLOSIS
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
πŸ“Œ What it is: A bacterial infection usually introduced through contaminated feed or water

⚠️ Symptoms:
πŸ”Έ Yellowish or white watery diarrhea
πŸ”Έ Weakness & loss of appetite
πŸ”Έ Sudden deaths in young chicks
πŸ”Έ Poor growth & weight gain

βœ… What to do: Always use clean, treated water. Store feed properly. Disinfect feeders & drinkers regularly.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
πŸ’‘ GOLDEN RULE OF DISEASE PREVENTION
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
βœ… Vaccinate on schedule
βœ… Keep litter dry & clean
βœ… Maintain proper ventilation
βœ… Use clean feed & water always
βœ… Observe your birds DAILY
βœ… Call your vet EARLY β€” never late!

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Never self-medicate your flock without consulting a licensed veterinarian. Wrong medication = drug resistance = bigger losses!
