Gombe State Donates N50 To Victims of Attack/Flood

Gombe State Government has donated Fifty Million Naira to Yobe state government in support of its efforts to provide succor to victims of the Mafa insurgency attack, and the flooding across the state.

Gombe State Deputy Governor, Mr Manesiah Daniel Jatau, who represented Governor Inuwa Yahaya, described the attack on the community as sad and unfortunate.

"We share with you the double tragedy of the attack on the community and the floods that claimed some lives, swept away houses and farmlands" he said.

Yahaya said the donation of N50m was to support the state government in providing assistance to the victims.

Governor Mai Mala Buni commended Gombe state government for standing with the government and people of Yobe state at such trying moment.

"I am highly delighted with this show of sympathy and brotherhood exhibited to us by the government of Gombe state, we will continue to cherish this support, care and visit" Buni said.

He said security challenges is a global phenomenon which required collective efforts to check the menace.

Yobe NLC Demand Police To Release It's A National Chairman

The Yobe State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Mukhtar Tarbutu, has called on members and affiliates of the union to pray for the release of the National President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, who was recently invited by the Nigerian Police Force.

Tarbutu made the appeal on Thursday in Damaturu while addressing a gathering of NLC members and affiliates in the state. He said the union had received a directive from the national headquarters to mobilize members to police headquarters in their respective states in solidarity with Ajiro.

However, in Yobe State, the NLC leadership decided to adopt a spiritual approach by organizing prayers for Ajiro’s safe return. Tarbutu expressed confidence that Allah would intervene and ensure the safety of the NLC president.

In addition to the prayers, Tarbutu also announced the formation of a technical committee to review the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage in the state. The committee has completed its work and submitted its recommendations to the state government.

Tarbutu commended the committee for its efforts and expressed hope that the government would engage with the union on the issue.

Terrorists kills 3, Injure One In Fudiyya Geidam

The terrorists suspected to be a members of Boko haram have killed three, injured one in Fudiyya Islamiyya Geidam, Yobe state.

The School belongs to Muslim Brothers Movement (Shi’ites) under Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, located in Geidam, the headquarters of the Geidam local government area of Yobe state.

The Public Relation Officer, Yobe State Police Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim confirmed the incident, adding that the attackers arrived at the school on motorcycles, armed with AK47 rifles around 4.00 am today Friday 30th August 2024 shooting sporadically.

“Yes, there was an attack on Faudiya Islamic School in Geidam the headquarters of Geidam local government area. The school belongs to the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (Shi’ite).”

“When Police received the distress call and rushed to the school, they discovered a total number of 3 students have been killed, while 1 was injured and is currently receiving medical treatment at Geidam Specialists Hospital” he said.

Meanwhile, Muhammadu Saleh, 22 years, Ahmed Abdulrahman, 21 years and Abdullahi Adamu, also 21 years were said to have been killed while Sani Haruna, 25 years who was injured is currently receiving medical treatment.

Geidam located 183 kilometres away from Damaturu the state capital and a border community with Niger Republic was once, one of the epicenters of the Boko Haram insurgency in the state between 2012 and 2016 as well the hometown of the immediate past Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba.

The Yobe State chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, has on Saturday visited Emir of Gudi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Isa Bunuwo Ibn Madubu Khaja, and express his gratitude for conferring the traditional title of Madakin Gudi, at his hometown, Gadaka of Fika local government area.

In a statement issued by Hajiya Sa'adatu Maina, the Press Secretary to APC state chairman, said that, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka together with the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Hon. Ahmed Mirwa, the Governor Buni's Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abdullahi Yusuf Gashu'a, other members of state House Assembly and senior government officials.

FUGA gets 6 new readers, promotes 280 staff, dismissed 6 others

The Governing Council of Federal University Gashua in Yobe State at its 25th Regular meeting approved the promotion of 40 Academic staff to various ranks as well considered the promotion of 165 Senior Non-Academic staff and 75 junior staff.

In a Press Statement issued by the FUGA's Head, Information and Protocol unit, Malam Adamu Saleh, said Six Academic Staff were promoted to the rank of Readers.

In the statement, "the Governing Council of the University at its 25th Regular meeting approved promotion of 40 Academic staff, 165 Non-Academic Staff and 75 Junior staff of the Institution.”

“The council also approved the promotion of six (6) Senior Academic staff to the rank of Readers following the receipt of favourable external assessments report on them. Those promoted to the rank of readers are: Dr. Umar Adamu, Biology Department, Karimu Ishola, Business Administration, Dr. Mohammed Saminu Dogari, Chemistry Department.”

“Others Include, Dr. Abatcha Melemi, Department of Economics and Development Studies, Dr. Udu Linus, Public Administration and Dr. Jerome M. Gumpy, Computer Science Department.”.

While congratulating the promoted staff, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Maimuna Waziri urged them to work harder to justify the promotions handed over to them.

She also warned the entire staff of the Institution against any act capable of tarnishing the good image of the University, saying it will not be condoned.

The conferment of traditional title of 'Madaki Gudi' on Yobe state Chairman of All progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka by the Emir of Gudi, Alhaji Isa Bunuwo Ibn Madubu Khahji, is well deserved and its a call to greater service.

As a politician, businessman and philantrophists, Gadaka is a patriot who has offered himself to serve with loyalty, humility, and diligence. His underlying philosophical is being people oriented and people centered for a peaceful, united and prosperous state where all youths and elders are free to contribute their quota to nation building.

The conferment of the traditional title as Madaki was long overdue because of the laudable efforts of Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka to the development of Gudi Emirate and Yobe state in general.

The title is earned at the pleasure of His Royal Highness the Emir of Gudi by any outstanding citizen of good character and conduct and who emerged from the line of our tradition and culture of our kingdom.

The Yobe State chairman of All Prograssive Congress (APC), Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka has been conferred with the traditional title of Madaki of Gudi by the Gudi Emirate Council in Gadaka town.

In an appointment letter signed by the Secretary to the Gudi Emirate Council, Musa Yakubu on behalf of the Emir of Gudi, Alhaji Isa Bunuwo Ibn Madubu and made available to newsmen in Gadaka, no Thursday indicated that the title was conferred to the Yobe State chairman of APC, following his support and contributions to the development of the Gudi Emirate Council.

The Monarch urged the Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka to continue with the support and cooperation to the emirate.

Musa Yakubu said, "I am directed by His His Royal Highness, Alhaji Isa Bunuwo Ibn Madubu Khahji (FIFN), the Emir of Gudi to write and convey to you that he has conferred on you and appoint you the prestigious title of MADAKI OF GUDI."

"This title is earned at the pleasure of His Royal Highness the Emir of Gudi by any outstanding citizen of good character and conduct and who engaged from the line of our tradition and culture of our Kingdom. It is therefore the testimony of His Royal Highness the Emir of Gudi that you acquired this qualities that qualify you for this prestigious title."

The Yobe state chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, congratulates the Muslim Ummah, the good people of Yobe state on the Eid-el-fitr celebration marking the end of the one month Ramadan fasting.

In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Hajiya Sa'adatu Maina said that, Alhaji Gadaka expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for spearing our lives to witness yet another Eid-el-fitr peacefully and good health.

Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka urged the Muslim of the state to used the Sallah Celebration to pray for a lasting peace and prosperity in Yobe state and Nigeria at large.

Gashua Varsity matriculates 1,872 students

Federal University, Gashua has on Saturday matriculated a total number of 1, 872 newly admitted students into various disciplines for the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic year.

This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of the institution Professor Maimuna Waziri at the occasion of the university's 8th matriculation ceremony.

Waziri, has declared that the university has a name to protect and zero tolerance for culticism, examination malpractice, indecent dressing, demonstration, corruption, thuggery, harassment, all forms of abuse, stealing, hooliganism and other forms of social vices capable of disrupting students' attention to the pursuit of their academic success.

The figure indicated that a total of 1,669 UTME and 203 DE students were admitted for the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.

She stressed that based on the summary of the admissions for the two sets, the institution has admitted students from 34 states of the federation and Abuja, adding that the admission of students from various states indicates a good mixture based on Federal Character principle.

"You should note that FUGA is not a dumping ground for admission seekers but a place where all students would be judged based on the quality of our programs and their performance," she said.

The hallmark of FUGa is academic excellence. "I therefore urge you to work hard and avoid any act that is not in conformity with the university's rules and regulations as well as societal norms, because anyone found guilty shall be made to face the wrath of the law," she added.

When administering the matriculation oath to the newly admitted students, the university Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Mamuda, said that any student involved in any form of misconduct in the course of their academic pursuit should have his or her admission determined by the school authority.

Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka attends funeral prayer of Dallatu of Fika, late Hon. Baba Abare

The Yobe state chairman of All Prograssive Congress (APC), Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka attended the funeral prayers of late Dallatu of Fika, Hon. Baba Abare, at Fika Emirate Palace in Potiskum, in the early morning of today Friday.

In a statement issued by the party chairman's Press Secretary Hajiya Sa'adatu Maina, said with heavy heart and grief, Hon. Gadaka received this sad and shocking news; the death of late Dallatu of Fika, after a brief illness, and buried according to Islam teaching.

Alh. Gadaka condoled the chairman of Yobe state council of chiefs and Emir of Fika, Alhaji Dr. Muhammad Ibn Idriss Abali, the entire family of late Dallatu of Fika and the good people of Fika Emirate.

Also, expressed his sympathy and prayed for the repose soul of the deceased late Dallatu of Fika and for the family the fortitude to bear the lost.

"We pray to Allah (swt) to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul firdaus, as his final abode." Party chairman prayed.

"We are very saddened but as people of faith in Islam, we submit ourselves to the will of our creator Allah (swt).

Other personalities, in attendance for funeral prayers of late Dallatu of Fika, including Hon. Commissioner of Justice, Commissioner of Higher education, Prof. Munkaila, FCE Provost, the Manager of YEDC, representatives from Mai Pataskum, Mai Tikau, Mai Fune and Mai Damaturu respectfully.
