Redouble your effort to end terrorism - New Sector 2 Commander charges troops

The new Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force, North East Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Koko Akamba Isoni, has charged troops to redouble their efforts in order to finish off remnants of Boko Haram terrorists within the Sector's Area of Responsibility and the North East region in general.

The Commander gave the charge on Saturday during the handing and taking over ceremony between him and his predecessor held at the Sector Headquarters in Damaturu, Yobe State capital.

In a statement by Lieutenant Kennedy Anyanwu, Assistant Director Army Public Relations Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI,
General Isoni expressed determination to build on the successes recorded by his predecessor in the ongoing operations against insurgency in the North East to achieve lasting peace and results.

Isoni also enjoined the troops to carry out their assigned task diligently and professionally.

The Commander further disclosed his willingness to partner with critical stakeholders in line with the Chief of Army Staff's vision, which is to have "A Professional Army Ready to Accomplish Assigned Missions within a Joint Environment in Defence of Nigeria".

In his farewell address, the immediate past Commander Sector 2 OPHK, Brigadier General Adamu Nura, thanked officers and soldiers of the Sector for their support during his tour of duty as the Sector Commander.

He also called on them to give the new commander maximum cooperation and support.

"Maj Gen KA Isoni was the Director Policy, Army Headquarters Department of Policy and Plans before his appointment as the Commander Sector 2 JTF North-East OPHK, while the out-gone Commander is posted to Army Headquarters Department of standards and Evaluation as Director Procurement and Evaluation", the statement added.

Yobe: Gov. Buni signs Violence Against Persons Prohibition bill, two others into law


Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has signed into law Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Bill into law to protect victims and punish offenders in the state.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by Yobe State Director of Information Services, Hajia Husna Ibrahim.

According to the statement, the governor also signed a bill for a law to establish the Yobe State Justice Reform Team to coordinate the various justice institutions and other matters as well as a bill for a law to provide for the protection of children in the state and other related matters thereto respectively.

The move is to ensure speedy administration of justice, address the problem of violence against persons and the protection of children.

"His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State Hon. Mai Mala Buni has assented to the following Bills for the speedy administration of justice, address the problem of violence against persons and the protection of children. The assented laws are:

"A bill for a law to establish the Yobe State Justice Reform Team to coordinate the various Justice Institutions and other matters thereto.

"A bill for a law to prohibit all forms of violence against persons in private and public life and to provide maximum protection and effective Remedies for victims and punishment of offenders and other related matters.

"A bill for a law to provide for the protection of children in Yobe State and other related matters thereto", the statement said.

Ramadan: Yobe govt. reviews curfew hours

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has approved a review of the night curfew restricting human and vehicular movements across the state.

In a statement signed on Monday by Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd.), Special Adviser to the Executive Governor on Security Affairs indicated that the approval followed an improvement in the security situation in the state.

"The new curfew time will now commence from 12.00 midnight against the usual 11.00p.m to 6.00a.m", the statement disclosed.

It, however, noted that the review does not affect movements from one local government to another.

Meanwhile, the statement added that the existing restriction of movement through security check points is still in force.

"Muslim faithful who wish to participate in the Tahajud prayer in this holy month of Ramadan are free to do so".

Government in the state advised security agencies to take note and adhere to the new change.
