A HEARTFELT COMPLAINT FROM STUDENTS OF Yobe State University
I am one of the students who were denied the opportunity to sit for the Electrochemistry examination at Yobe State University, and this situation has deeply affected many of us emotionally and academically.
It is truly heartbreaking to witness how some lecturers in the Chemistry Department continue to treat students unfairly, as though the future and struggles of students no longer matter.
Most of the affected students are not fresh cases. Some are spill-over students for one session, others for two sessions, while some have spent even more years trying to complete their studies. A number of students struggled before their registration portals were eventually opened, yet after completing registration, they were still denied access to the examination simply because of attendance issues.
Honestly, this is unfair and unacceptable.
How can students be blamed for delayed registration processes?
How can students suffer for failures within the school system itself?
What hurts the most is the growing belief that certain lecturers seem more interested in frustrating students until they eventually give up on their education after spending seven to eight difficult years investing their time, energy, and their parents’ hard-earned money in pursuit of knowledge.
This is not discipline.
This is not proper education.
This is outright injustice.
We are calling on every individual who values education, student rights, and the future of young people to help amplify this message so it can reach the appropriate authorities.
Students deserve fairness, understanding, and justice — not intimidation or oppression.
A student is not a slave.
We are only demanding justice, not a favor.
