INEC opens candidates’ records for public scrutiny Friday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Friday publish the personal particulars of all presidential and National Assembly candidates for the 2027 general election, allowing Nigerians to inspect documents submitted by political parties and raise objections where necessary under the Electoral Act.

The records, including Form EC9 and supporting credentials, will be displayed at INEC offices nationwide as part of the candidate verification process.

The exercise follows the close of nominations after the commission extended the submission deadline to accommodate requests from political parties.

Gunmen have attacked officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State.

According to the Osun State Police Command, the attackers stormed Oyinlola DC Primary School, Ward 2, where INEC officials were conducting the exercise, and carted away three packs of PVCs and Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices.
