DAAR Communications Plc was established by High Chief Aleogho Dokpesi who holds a Doctorate Degree in Marine Transport Engineering from the University of Gdansk, Sopot in Poland. For his exemplary, patriotic and selfless service to the country and humanity in general, he was honoured with the National Honours of the Officer of the Order

of the Federal Republic (OFR) by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in February 14, 2008. The Company

DAAR Communications Plc is the foremost Independent Broadcast Organization in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The company was incorporated on the 31st of August 1988 as a limited liability company. DAAR Communications Plc pioneered private/independent broadcasting with the establishment of RayPower 100.5FM radio station which debut commercial broadcasting on September 1, 1994 in Alagbado, Lagos upon the deregulation of the broadcast sector in 1993 by Federal Government of Nigeria. The organization also pioneered global satellite broadcasting on Dec 6, 1996 with the establishment of Africa Indep endent Television (AIT). On October 7 2008, DAAR Communications Plc formally launched the first fully Nigerian base digital multi-channel direct-to-home subscription TV - Daarsat. On December 1, 2012 an indigenous station FAAJI FM; that is broadcast basically in Yoruba spiced with some degree of Pidgin English was launched in Lagos the cosmopolitan/economic capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Both RayPower FM and Africa Independent Television (AIT) pioneered 24 hour broadcasting in Nigeria. FAAJI FM is a fully indigenous 24 hour radio station that broadcast basically in Yoruba Language and some degree of Pidgin English. We persuaded Tinubu to join presidential race -Osoba, Olusi, others

Former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba, Yoruba leaders and other political leaders in South West have narrated how they influenced the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, to contest for president of Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, said nobody is above the king in Yorubaland as the kings in Yorubaland have endorsed Tinubu as the next President of Nigeria in the February 25, poll.

Osoba, monarch and other political leaders in the region spoke at the Yoruba and South West leaders of Thought Summit at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos on Monday.

According to Osoba, Tinubu joining presidential race was not his own making but making of prominent and progressive politicians from southwest who pressurised him (Tinubu) in 2007 to join race for president.

Nigeria has about 25% of all NTDs in Africa, says Ehanire

Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, on Monday, said Nigeria has about 25 per cent of all Neglected Tropical Diseases, NTDs, in Africa.
The minister, who said this at a ministerial press briefing held to mark the 2023 World Neglected Tropical Disease Day in Abuja, noted that in the colonial era, the highest NTD rates were in Egypt and Yemen, with a significant number also in Iran and Algeria.
He said the country was particularly interested in Neglected Tropical Diseases because they are a group of communicable and non-communicable diseases occurring mostly in isolated areas of developing countries with poor sanitation and nutritional status, unsafe water supply, substandard living conditions and low level of education.

PVC collection: INEC cautions staff against sharp practices

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abia has cautioned its staff members to shun sharp practices during the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) distribution.
The INEC’s Head, Public Affairs Unit in Abia, Mr Bamidele Oyetunji, issued the warning in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Aba on Monday.

Oyetunji said that the commission frowns at receiving or demanding gratification from the public while performing their duties.

”Our staff members do not need to search for anything on the internet. “All they need to do is to give people their voter cards.

”Anybody whose card is not found or those with challenges should be given a note to verify online by themselves,” Oyetunji said.

NAN reports that some residents of Aba have accused some INEC officials of collecting N500 from prospective voters before issuing them their cards.

Mrs Ijeoma Bernard said she was asked to pay N500 as “verification fee” before she was given her card.

Also, Nwanyioma Enyinnaya said that the INEC officials refused to attend to her because she could not pay.

Mrs Iheanaetu Roseline expressed worries that her card could not be found after the stress she passed through to get registered.

NAN reports that at Osisioma and Aba North Local Government Areas, residents turned out en masse to collect their cards.

The Abia Government declared Monday and Tuesday public holiday to enable workers to collect their PVCs ahead of the General Elections. (NAN)

Funke Akindele’s ex-husband, JJC Skillz returns to Islam

Abdulrasheed Bello, award-winning Nigerian songwriter, rapper, filmmaker and former husband to Nollywood star Funke Akindele, said he has reverted to Islam, his former religion.

The singer made this known in a series of posts on his verified Instagram account on Friday, January 13, 2023.

Bello said he was originally born in Islam but he never practised it as he followed the faith of his mum. He further stated that he was lost before but he is now found.

“I was lost but now I’m found O Allah, I ask You for Your pardon and well-being in this life and the next. O Allah, I ask You for well-being in my religious and worldly affairs, and my family and my wealth.

“O Allah, veil my weaknesses and set at ease my dismay, and preserve me from the front and behind and on my right and my left and from above, and I take refuge with You lest I be swallowed up by the earth.

Speaking to Muslims News, the award-winning rapper and music entrepreneur said it was a design of God that he would embrace Islam.

“I was born a Muslim – AbdurRasheed by name. My dad, Bello is a Muslim but my mum is a Christian. Back then I used to go Islamiyah but all I remembered about it was getting beaten. They used to scare us with hellfire so, I never practised.

“It’s God’s design that I will return to Islam. I thank Allah for sparing my life. I am so happy I found Islam again because it has given me peace. It has given me direction and focus. I was truly lost but now, I am found,” he said.
