If you are familiar with anything concerning NYSC, you must have seen the photo of the high-ranking military officer in his ceremonial uniform, looking sharp and professional.

Recently, a lot of people—especially the incoming Batch A 2026—have been asking who the man leading the scheme is. Since I was also curious, I did some digging, and here are the answers!

We bring to you the identity of the Director-General of the NYSC.
His name is Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu.

He officially took over as the 23rd Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps on March 6, 2025. Before stepping into this role, he served in several high-profile positions, most notably as the Chief of Staff to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
General Nafiu is a proud son of Ile-Ogbo in Osun State. He is a member of the 47 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy and is an Artillery officer by specialty. He is highly educated, holding a Master’s degree from Ahmadu Bello University and another in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

Since his appointment, he has been a strong advocate for the SAED program, constantly encouraging corps members to learn skills so they don't rely solely on their monthly 'allawee.' He is often praised for his 'fatherly' yet disciplined approach to corps welfare.

Beyond his decorated military career and public service, General Nafiu maintains a grounded private life. He is happily married and is blessed with children. He often emphasizes the importance of family values when addressing corps members during his nationwide camp tours."
I can now rest! Glad to share with you the little we know about him

If you are familiar with the NYSC PORTAL SITE, you must have come across a picture of this babe smiling with her saxophone in hand dressed up in the 6/7 Nysc uniform.

Recently, a lot of people have been asking who she is. So here is it because I was also curious but today I got my answers too.

"The identity of the female corp member on the NYSC portal has been revealed.

Her name is Adetuke Morgan, popularly known as Tuke Morgan (Instagram name: TukeMorgan).

She served in Lagos State during the 2013 Batch C service year under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). During camp, she was a proud member of the Brigade Band and belonged to Platoon 7.

Tuke’s striking photo from orientation camp gained attention after it featured on the official NYSC portal.

After her service year, Tuke Morgan would go on to build a career as a professional saxophonist, model, blogger (Tuke's Quest), seasoned photographer and online media personality. She has a band and has played for many weddings and other special occasions.

Tuke Morgan later explored acting, stepping into Nigeria’s film industry, Nollywood. She has featured in movies like The Wives, as Ugo.

The most shocking one is that she featured in the popular Love In Every Word 2 movie by Omoni Oboli, where her band performed at the wedding.

Beyond her professional growth, Tuke embraced family life. She is happily married and is blessed with a handsome son."

I can now rest! Glad to finally know this.

Our CDS sensitization visit to the Motherless Babies Home at Idung Iniang, Eket, Akwa-Ibom was indeed a memorable one.

A visitation that felt like a home, because we were met with open arms by the staff and the children.

The morning prayer, song of praises and worships was led by the beautiful kids in spirit, after which we were being introduced to them as their friends and families.

We took them through the advantages of education in the society by our amiable speakers both in English and Ibibio language.

After our discussions, we made them felt loved as every child should feel regardless of their background. Their smiles in return was large enough to light the whole world.

A group picture with them and all the staff was taken, in the picture is an eternal bond unseen.

Our mind represented you and gathered the following information you might need to know;

For the abandoned babies, the process that is undergone before they are brought to the motherless baby home,
is the same process used for children who lost their mothers during delivery, they would be adopted to register abandoned babies into the motherless baby home. Therefore, he who sees the child (where he/she was abandoned), would be the one to undergo all the processes for the child's raising at the Motherless home .

There’s no specific timeframe of how long the adoption process takes. It could be earlier or not. It all depends on the documentation process, court approval, background checks and home study.

The government supports the home by bringing in nurses and Doctors, the doctors come to check on the children, and the House Mistress is one of the nurses from the government. But others support when they come to visit.

The kids are being taught by voluntary teachers. New volunteers will be appreciated

Our exchange of gifts was done and graciously accepted.

As a CDS group our responsibility is to make an awareness, and you reading this is to support them as best as you can.

Today marked our first Press and ICT CDS meeting of the month—a vibrant mix of welcoming fresh faces and diving into deep waters.

With time on our side, we tackled a heavy question: "Is the source of morality Divine (from God) or Human (from society)?" Is "good" and "evil" a law from above or a pact we made with each other?

The room came alive! Those rooting for the Divine argued that morality started when the Almighty commanded the Angels to honor Adam. They reminded us that our modern laws are often just reflections of ancient religious codes.

But then, the Humanists struck back with heat: "If morality is Divine, why is it so different across the globe?"

Why is tinted hair a "sin" here but a style elsewhere? Why does one culture embrace polygamy while another forbids it? They spoke of Tabula Rasa—the idea that we are born as blank slates, and only society’s hand writes what is right or wrong. After all, if morals were purely spiritual, why do we need human police to enforce them?

Ultimately, we agreed: Morality is a beautiful blend of both. God sparked the light, but humanity built the lamp.

We ended with a spicy scenario: "If you’re a Senator given ₦19 billion for a project and ₦2 billion remains after completion, do you pocket it?"

The silence was loud!
So, over to you: If you held that power, would you see it as your responsibility or a business for yourself?

Let’s talk in the comments!

PRESS AND ICT CDS GROUP
At today’s PRESS and ICT meeting in Eket, Akwa Ibom. We had a heated but educative conversation on inter-religious relationships" atheism, and banditry.
Here are some of the opinions shared by corps members:
Inter-Religious Relationships
A Muslim member explained that Islam encourages peaceful relationships with other religions as long as boundaries are respected.
This raised the question: “If Islam promotes peace, why do bandits claim Islam?”
The response was that bandits act outside Islamic teachings, and the few situations where Islam permits killing only apply under a proper Islamic state, not criminal groups.
Atheism & Good Deeds
Someone asked: “If an atheist lives a good life, will he enter heaven?”
One opinion was that belief in God is required in many religions, and good deeds alone are not enough.
Do Atheists Pray?
Members also debated how atheists “pray,” and whether such prayers can be accepted without belief in God.
The room became tense when someone asked if Jesus Christ and Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) are real.
A member wisely responded that since none of us lived in their time, we rely on history and the holy books for guidance.

Final Question
If you were a leader, how would you solve the issue of banditry in Nigeria?

CDS DISCUSSION RECAP: Why Do Men Cheat? Why Do Women Cheat?

In today’s press and ICT cds group meeting (Eket, Akwa Ibom), we had an interesting conversation about cheating in relationships and marriage.

The points below are opinions shared by different corps members during the discussion — not my personal view and not the official stance of the CDS.

Why Some Women Cheat?

According to some female members:

When they feel unprovided for

When emotional needs are ignored

When there is no support or connection

For them, cheating is often tied to emotions, trust, provision, not just pleasure.

Why Some Men Cheat?

According to some male members:

For pleasure

For physical desire

Even without emotional attachment

Sometimes with people they barely know

For them, cheating is often purely physical.

How Each Gender Defines Cheating (Shared Perspectives)

Women:
Cheating happens when they give another man their emotions, respect, attention, or submission.
Some members said emotional withdrawal or loss of respect can be a sign that something deeper is wrong.

Men:
Some argued that cheating for men goes beyond having another partner.
They defined it as when a man stops leading, providing, or protecting, and shifts that energy to another woman.

Cultural & Religious Views Mentioned

Some members referenced:

Traditions/history where men had multiple wives

The claim that women rarely have multiple husbands successfully

(Again, these are individual opinions shared, not facts or CDS beliefs.)

General Conclusions From Members

No religion or culture supports cheating

Some believe women should not revenge-cheat because men rarely forgive

Others believe cheating is wrong from both sides.
