The leadership of Kwara LikeMinds has continued its grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 Kwara South Senatorial election, as it held an engagement with members of the Itesiwaju Forum on Thursday evening.

The meeting focused on strengthening grassroots coordination, voter engagement and community-level mobilisation in support of Hon. Prince Saheed Popoola, who is contesting for the Kwara South Senatorial District.

During the engagement, the leadership of Kwara LikeMinds highlighted the importance of reaching voters at the grassroots and encouraging wider participation in the political process. Discussions also centred on strategies for effective communication, mobilisation and canvassing across communities within Kwara South.

The Itesiwaju Forum representatives, while responding to the initiative, expressed their support for Popoola's senatorial aspiration. They also pledged to mobilise their members and engage other residents in support of his candidacy.

‘Defending Kwara APC Made Me Look Stupid, That’s Why I Left’ — Awoyale

A former political ally of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Chief Awoyale Gbenga, has explained his decision to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying his continued defence of the APC government had become difficult to justify.

Awoyale, an Arandun-born political stakeholder and community leader in Kwara South, made the remark while speaking on his recent defection to the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Defending Kwara APC made me look stupid; that is why I left the party,” he said, explaining that his decision was based on his assessment of developments in the state and his desire to pursue what he considers to be in the best interest of the people.

The PDP chieftain, who is also known for his philanthropic and community activities, acknowledged the leadership of former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, after joining the opposition party. He pledged his support for the PDP in Kwara South and across the state ahead of the 2027 elections.

Awoyale said his political interest was centred on the development of Kwara South and the state, adding that he would work with other stakeholders to strengthen the PDP ahead of the polls.

He further disclosed that some APC members were considering joining the PDP, expressing confidence that the movement would grow ahead of the 2027 general elections. He called for greater attention to issues affecting the people and development of the state.

2027: Popoola Unveils Media Team, Appoints Ege as Head of Media, MD choice as official Photographer

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Kwara South Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, Hon. Prince Saheed Popoola, has appointed Comrade Abiodun Segun Ege as his Media Aide and Mr. Muyideen Babatunde Oladimeji as his official photographer.

Oladimeji is the Chief Executive Officer of MD Choice Pictures Studio.

The appointments were announced on Sunday during the inaugural meeting of the Popoola Media Team, held at the Kwara South PDP Senatorial Office. The meeting was attended by members of the media team and representatives of the candidate’s political structure.

Speaking at the meeting, Popoola commended members of the team for their contributions before, during and after the party’s primary election.

He also acknowledged the leadership of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki for providing the platform for PDP candidates to contest the 2027 general elections.

Popoola explained that the media team was established not only to support his senatorial ambition but also to promote the campaigns and activities of other PDP candidates in Kwara South.

According to him, the team would support the party’s governorship candidate, Engr. Suleiman Bolakale Kawu, and deputy governorship candidate, Rev. Cornelius Olaosebikan Fawenu.
