You live in a compound, and you’re the only tenant with a dog.
The law does not stop you from owning one, but it places a responsibility on you to keep that dog under proper control, especially if it is aggressive.
If your dog bites, attacks, or injures another person because you failed to restrain it, you may be held legally liable for the damage it caused.
In simple terms, if your dog causes someone to suffer injuries, you could end up paying compensation for their medical bills, pain, suffering, and any other losses resulting from the attack.
So, if you know your dog is aggressive, don’t leave your gate open or allow it to roam freely around the compound.
Loving your dog is your choice. Keeping other people safe is your legal responsibility.
