IABC Nigeria became a developmental chapter in February 2009 when it was approved alongside Mexico and Auckland by the association’s international executive board during its meeting in Orlando, Florida, USA. Nigeria’s developmental chapter certificate was received by Dr. Samuel Adenekan, who was president of the chapter. Early in July 2009, the chapter was incorporated in Nigeria and this paved wa
y for its official inauguration by then African Regional Director Dr. Amanda Hamilton-Atwell on the last day of the month. Dr Adenekan led other members of the steering committee that ensured the establishment of IABC chapter in Nigeria including Michael Somoye, Abiodun Olaniyi, Jacobs Nkem Nnamdi, Nnadi Kevin and Merrilyn Okeleke. Current chapter board members include Chido Nwakanma (President), Ifeanyi Mbanefo (Vice President), Nkem N. Jacobs (VP, Administration), Delia Asuzu (VP, Finance), and Dr Samuel Adenekan (Senior Delegate).
