IMT ENUGU – 2025 RECTOR’S DEBATE COMPETITION

This is to inform all students that the 2025 Rector’s Debate Competition will soon commence. The debate will involve all departments and faculties in the Institute.

Phase 1: Departments will compete to produce faculty champions.

Phase 2: Winning faculties will clash at inter-faculty level to determine the overall champion.

📅 Date: August 22nd – September 5th, 2025.
🏆 Prizes: Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best departments.

All HODs, Deans, and departmental presidents are expected to prepare and support their students for active participation.

IMT Rector Holds Strategic Meeting with Student Leaders, Deans Of Faculties, HODs and Key Staff

On Wednesday, August 14th, 2025, the Rector of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, Prof. Gozie S. Ogbodo, held a crucial meeting with all student leaders, Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, and other principal members of staff.

The Student Union Government (SUG), led by he SUG president Rt. Comr. Ekene Eze (Onodugo), was fully represented alongside principal officers Rt. Comr. Utazi Richard and Chief Judge Egbe Silas.

The meeting addressed several key issues affecting students and the institution:

1. Admission & Institutional Image
Students were urged to promote and uphold the image of IMT on social media, with the goal of gaining global recognition. The Deputy Rector emphasized that IMT is fully accredited, with new programs and departments introduced. To encourage online engagement, a prize will be awarded for the most engaging and widely reacted content promoting the school.

2. Nelfund Registration
Students were encouraged to register for Nelfund, the Federal Government Student Loan initiative designed to assist with tuition fees and upkeep. The Rector stated that registration is mandatory for all students.

3. Examination Resit Policy:
The Rector provided further clarification on the newly introduced exam resit system for final-year students (ND2 and HND2). This policy is aimed at enabling students who fail a course to retake it promptly, graduate alongside their peers, and avoid an extra academic year.

4. Academic Calendar & Conduct
Prof. Ogbodo stressed that the current academic session must end as scheduled. He encouraged students and lecturers to commence lectures without delay. Additionally, students were cautioned against including “Old School Day” in the student week activities or organizing any form of unauthorized social gathering within the institution.

The meeting ended on a cheerful note as the Rector joined staff and students in celebrating the birthday of Mr. Michael Onyiba, a dedicated member of the IMT staff.

- Black trousers or long black skirts
- Departmental polo or shirt

Any deviation from this dress code will be considered indecent. Specifically, the following attire is prohibited:

- Short skirts
- Short jeans
- Rugged jeans
- Blue jeans
- Any other attire not in line with the specified dress code
