Peter Obi Serving Food at a Party? That’s Just Who He Is — Not Politics
So, a video of Peter Obi serving food to guests at a party in Lagos is making the rounds again. And as expected, some people are already saying, “He’s doing it because of politics.”
But if you’ve ever met Peter Obi in person or observed him closely over the years, you’ll know this isn’t new. That’s just how he is — with or without elections.
I remember back in 2018, I saw him at an event. No noise, no show. He was quietly helping out, serving people. Honestly, I was confused. A former governor? Doing that? It felt strange. But the shock became real when I saw him another time in Anambra, sitting with village women, eating rice and having normal conversations like he was just one of them. His security guys were standing far off. No barrier, no ‘big man’ behavior.
I didn’t even recognize him at first. My friend pointed him out, saying, “That’s Peter Obi.” I just stood there, surprised. In my mind, I was asking myself: Is this man okay? What kind of ex-governor behaves like this?
But it all made sense later when I travelled abroad. In many countries, especially in places like Europe and the US, people treat each other like equals. You can send your boss on an errand without it being an insult. Everyone is human. Maybe the only difference is what’s in your bank account.
That’s the same spirit Peter Obi carries — humility, simplicity, and a deep sense of humanity. He doesn’t do these things for applause. It’s not a performance. It’s his lifestyle. Maybe more people are just noticing now because he’s in the spotlight.
So before you rush to call it “political acting,” ask yourself — how many politicians do you know who’ve been doing this for years, even when no one was watching?
Peter Obi isn’t pretending to be humble. He just is.
