Few months ago, I attended a wedding. But something happened!
I arrived the wedding venue very early because I left my base to catch up with time. Turns out I was like the first to reach the church.
While I waited, hunger decided to kiss me. That was how I stumbled out to search for food.
After much search, I found this spot!
They only had noodles and Okpa with pap on their menu (they were still cooking and I was tad bit early).
I sat down and ordered!
Now if you have eaten Enugu Okpa before, you will understand it’s either sold in nylons or cups.
In the menu, I saw, okpa N700 naira, Pap, N500.
Infact everything I ordered was about N1,500 including extra milk and sugar.
But this place was too beautiful to sell such at a cheap rate.
I didn’t know I was about to meet another shocker.
When my food finally arrived, it was a sight to behold.
“Nne, I hope my bill is N1,900?” She affirmed again.
But how? The plating and packaging blew me away.
Like I mean, you can’t serve me this beautifully and still sell this at this affordable rate.
I have lived in Lagos and currently reside at the heart (high brow) area of Enugu state.
Food served this way won’t cost me anything less than N5,000 naira.
Well, I paid and relished my meal. The Okpa was sooooo tasty like my grannies when she was alive. My goodness!
But I took home a lesson!
You can switch up the perception and pricing of your product simply through packaging, branding and your delivery!
I doubted the whole service was N1,900 naira and I walked home feeling I cheated them anyways.
Lest I forget, more people came to eat. Not because they didn’t see other Okpa sellers but, who wouldn’t want to be served in such delicious manner?
