How to Calculate the Number of Blocks per Square Meter
To estimate blocks for your wall, follow these steps:
Step 1: Understand the Base Measurement
• 1 square meter = 1 m × 1 m.
• For example:
• 1 m × 1 m = 1 m²
Step 2: Take a Practical Measurement on Site
• Go to where blockwork is exposed.
• Use a plumb and tape to mark 1 meter vertically and 1 meter horizontally.
• Complete the square to form 1 m × 1 m.
Step 3: Count the Blocks Within That 1 m² Area
• When you count, you will find approximately 9 blocks and some fraction.
• For calculation, round it to 10 blocks per square meter.
Step 4: Calculate the Total Wall Area
• Find the total wall area by multiplying the length and height of each wall.
• Example:
• Wall 1: 3 m × 3 m = 9 m²
• Wall 2: 2 m × 2 m = 4 m²
• Add up all walls to get the total square meters.
Step 5: Multiply by 10
• Multiply the total square meters by 10 (the approximate number of blocks per m²).
• This gives the total blocks needed.
• Note: This is an approximate figure, not exact. You may not need to add much waste.
With this method, you can estimate blocks for any building quickly and practically.
