Police Arrest Suspect in Killing of ‘Repentant’ Bandit in Benue

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect linked to the killing of a repentant bandit along the Sankera–Zaki-Biam Road in Ukum Local Government Area.

The victim, identified as Kyoga Joka, was allegedly gunned down on September 29 by two armed men on a motorcycle. Eyewitnesses pointed to Chen, a notorious bandit leader, as being behind the attack.

Police recovered Joka’s body and deposited it at the General Hospital Mortuary, Zaki-Biam. One alleged member of Chen’s gang, Teryila Kpogh, has since been apprehended, while efforts are underway to track down other suspects.

The case is currently under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), with updates expected as inquiries progress.

Gumi Warns Nigerian Army, Security Agencies Against Provoking Terrorists After Katsina Peace Deal

Controversial Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has issued fresh caution over Nigeria’s escalating security challenges, urging the military and other security agencies not to provoke armed groups in Katsina State following a recent peace agreement with residents of Faskari Local Government Area.

In a Facebook post, Gumi warned that any offensive against the groups could shatter the fragile truce and reignite violence.

“Some people who don’t want peace will provoke them again by attacking them. It’s very important to educate them that they are being used, with their ignorance and thirst for vengeance exploited,” he wrote.

Those Kids Need Urgent Rescue – NAPTIP Reacts to Viral Video of Woman Begging with Children After Receiving N550k Support

A viral video has surfaced online showing a heated confrontation between a man and a woman he had previously supported with ₦550,000.

According to the man, the money was meant to help her rent a shop and start a business, but to his shock, he later found her back on the streets begging with her children.

In the clip, the man asked if she remembered him, and when she said yes, he questioned why she was still begging despite the huge assistance. The woman claimed her husband absconded with the money the same day she received it. However, the man accused her of fabricating the story, insisting she had never mentioned a husband before. He further expressed frustration, saying her actions not only made her children suffer but also risked damaging his reputation, since he had to raise the ₦550k from others on her behalf.

Reacting to the video, Nigeria’s anti-human trafficking agency, NAPTIP, wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

"Abeg, even if na to add location once once, e go help us to dey locate these cases. Those kids need to be rescued ASAP."
