Today in History: October 2nd
On October 2, 1968, a remarkable humanitarian effort took place as Biafran children were airlifted to safety by the International Red Cross and Terre des Hommes, escaping the devastating effects of war. These young lives were flown from Biafra to Libreville, Gabon, in search of refuge and a chance at a better future. After the war, many of our people never came back again.
Today, I ask: are you on the side of humanity? As leaders, influencers, and individuals, let's reflect on our values and actions. Are we guided by compassion, empathy, and a commitment to doing what's right? Or do we compromise our values for personal gain or convenience?
Their story serves as a powerful reminder of the impact of conflict on families and communities. Let's honor the bravery and resilience of those who were saved and the organizations that made it possible.
