*EPE LOCAL GOVERNMENT SETS THE PACE AS LAGOS STATE GOVERNOR’S SDG TEAM VISITS ON STRATEGIC ASSESSMENT ENGAGEMENT*
Yesterday, Tuesday, 26th August 2025, the historic town of Epe witnessed yet another defining moment as the Office of the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), Lagos State, stormed the Epe Local Government Secretariat on a high-powered working visit.
The visit, which focused on a comprehensive review and group discussion, brought together government officials, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, artisans, market leaders, farmers, youths, and opinion leaders from across the local government. It was an atmosphere of unity, dialogue, and visionary exchange, reflecting the very essence of sustainable development.
The delegation was led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on SDG, Dr. Oreoluwa Philip, ably represented by the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mrs. Olusola Oyejobi, alongside other top officials including Mrs. Omonike George-Aiyudu (Special Adviser, Office of the Governor on SDG), Mr. Sanusi Abdul Rahman Olajide (Director of Public Affairs, SDG), and Mr. Owoseni Olukotun (Head of Data & Statistics, SDG Office).
The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. (Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI, was gracefully represented by her articulate Vice, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Sikiru Adeniyi Owolomoshe, who warmly received the august visitors in company of other distinguished personalities, including the Leader of Epe Legislative Arm, Hon. Araba Taofeek; Chief of Staff, Hon. Tunde Odupe; Council Manager, Mrs. Monsurat Giwa; Education Secretary, Hon. Idowu Aliu Sh*ttu; Comrade Toyin Gbadamosi, LGA Chairman of CDC; councillors; exco members; management staff; traditional rulers and chiefs; artisans; market men and women; farmers; and youths.
In her remarks, Mrs. Olusola Oyejobi, Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, applauded the sterling performance of the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government:
“We are greatly inspired by the vision and commitment we have seen in Epe. The developmental strides under the leadership of Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun are not only impressive but also in total alignment with the global framework of the Sustainable Development Goals. She has proven that grassroots governance can be innovative, inclusive, and impactful.”
Similarly, Mrs. Omonike George-Aiyudu, Special Adviser in the Governor’s SDG Office, extolled the Epe model as a shining example of leadership that puts people first:
“What we experienced in Epe today is a clear testimony that when leadership is visionary and inclusive, the people flourish. The Governor is determined that no community will be left behind in the SDG drive, and Epe has positioned itself as a trailblazer. We commend the Executive Chairman and her dynamic team for their accountability, energy, and people-oriented approach to governance.”
Delivering his goodwill message, the Vice Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Sikiru Adeniyi Owolomoshe, who ably represented the Executive Chairman, expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the council:
"We sincerely thank the Governor’s SDG team for this remarkable engagement. It has further energized us to keep delivering quality governance to our people. Under the purposeful leadership of our indefatigable Chairman, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun, Epe will continue to stand tall as a beacon of progress, a hub of opportunities, and a model of sustainability in Lagos State."
The event closed on a resounding note, with renewed assurances of stronger collaboration between the Lagos State Government and Epe Local Government in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ensuring that development is not just for a few, but for all.
