Former Kano State Governor and a serving Senator representing Kano Central Senatorial district, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, yesterday formerly dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and joined the Nigeria’s third force political party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.

Kwankwaso resigned his membership of the PDP in a letter dated 29th March, 2022 and addressed to his ward Chairman.

Kwankwaso in the letter he personally signed said he was leaving the party because of some serious and irreconcilable differences.

Former Governor of Kano state, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Tuesday, March 29, resigned his membership from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The letter which was personally signed by the former governor and addressed to the leadership of the party in the state, stating his intention to resign his membership from the party.

Popular Nigerian Journalist, Babajide Kolade-otitoju, has stated that he does not believe that the APC will choose the party's flag bearers for the 2023 Election through consensus. Babajide discussed the topic during his recent interview on TVC News.

The emergence of Abdullahi Adamu as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) sparked concerns regarding the political party's future. You may recall that Adamu reportedly emerged through party consensus.

Addressing the topic, Babajide Otitoju said, "The use of consensus in the Presidential primaries may likely not happen, as it is more competitive for anyone to think that the party's Presidential candidate would emerge through consensus. I do not see that happening. Previous Chairmen of the party have emerged through a consensus. It prevents spending excess time on voting, as it could last more than a day. However, it will be extremely tough to choose party flag bearers through consensus. I believe people should be left to contest against each other to put their popularity to the test.

After the much anticipated national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was finally held, not much drama was expected as most positions in the national working committee (NWC), the organ that runs the day-to-day activities of the party had been filled by consensus. But this is politics where everybody cannot win. For every winner, there is a loser.

President Muhammadu Buhari has joined members, leaders and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in rejoicing with National Leader of the party and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his 70th birthday, March 29, 2022. Tinubu would clock 70 years tomorrow March 29, 2022.

Buhari affirmed Tinubu’s contributions to the political, economic, and social development of the country, setting a standard in leadership, governance, and philanthropy.

A statement by Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, said: “As the former Governor of Lagos State turns 70, the President notes and salutes his courage, resilience, selflessness and nobility in always placing the welfare and unity of the nation above self, backed with the vision of a greater Nigeria through investments in people, institutions and governments, without minding tribe or creed.

“President Buhari joins family members, friends, business and political associates in celebrating the septuagenarian, who has diligently and progressively risen on the nation’s political ladder since 1992, fighting for a democratic rule against many odds, angling for people-focused development and supporting visionary and purposeful leadership.

“The President prays that the Almighty God will increase Asiwaju Tinubu, the Jagaban of Borgu Kingdom, in strength, good health and wisdom to keep serving the nation, and humanity.”
