At 9:45 AM, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, announced the death of Pope Francis from the Casa Santa Marta with these words:

"Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of His Church. EDO STATE GOVERNOR DECLARED MISSING

Edo Governor, Godwin Obaseki Declared Missing — -Following allegations by the outgoing Governor of Edo state, Mr Godwin Obaseki that he has not been invited to the forthcoming inauguration of Senator Monday Okpebholo as Governor of the state, the incoming governor on Sunday declared that Obaseki has been missing since last Friday and now incommunicado.
In a statement made available to Abuja Breaking Sunday and signed by Godspower Inegbe, Okpebholo said Edo people are worried by Obaseki’s recent reckless utterances and urged him to evaluate his state of mind.

The Governor-Elect in the statement raised the alarm regarding the whereabouts of Obaseki, who on Friday reportedly fled Benin City, the Edo State capital, using an unmarked bus.

The statement revealed that Obaseki chased out everyone from the Government House on Friday before escaping to a yet-to-be known location more than 72 hours before his official departure from office.

As of Friday, 8th November, the whereabouts of Obaseki is unknown. He has chased everyone out of Edo State Government House. He has abandoned governance in the State, and he is on the run.

He has escaped through the road out of Benin. He did not pass through the airport. If he is as popular as he claims, why did he not use the airport to escape? Instead, he hired a bus and disguised while escaping from Edo State.

Obaseki is trying to push out these narratives in order to distract the public. His antics will not work. We know his plans, and we will continue to expose his shenanigans to Edo people,” the statement read.

Obaseki, on Saturday, claimed that Senator Okpebholo did not invite him to his inauguration, slated for next Tuesday. He also claimed without proof that the Governor-Elect has a stolen mandate.
But an angry Okpebholo said Obaseki needs serious and urgent attention.
He said since he won the election, Obaseki has employed every means to frustrate a peaceful transfer of power. The Governor-elect noted that Obaseki has not extended any invitation to him for a meeting or a tour of the Government House.
Again, Obaseki also claimed that Senator Okpebholo did not invite him to the ina

DEATH SENTENCE OF PETER NIELSEN UPHELD FOR MURDER OF NIGERIA WIFE & DAUGHTER

The Court of Appeal in Lagos has upheld the death sentence of Peter Nielsen, a Danish national, for the murder of his Nigerian wife, Zainab, and their three-year-old daughter.
The judgment, delivered on Friday, dismissed Nielsen’s appeal for lacking merit.

The appellate court concurred with the Lagos state government’s ability to prove the murder charges against Nielsen beyond a reasonable doubt.
Nielsen’s appeal argued that his defense was compromised due to the “missing exhibits as a result of the EndSARS attack on the court.”
However, the court ruled that this did not affect the outcome of the trial.

The original trial had taken place after the Lagos state government arraigned Nielsen on June 13, 2018, on a two-count charge of murder, an offense contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos 2015.
Nielsen had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The tragic incident occurred on April 5, 2018, at the couple’s residence on Banana Island, Lagos. Nielsen was accused of killing his wife, Zainab, a popular singer also known as Alizee, and their daughter.
During the trial, Nielsen claimed that he had woken up at 2:30 am on the day of the incident to get snacks and drinks for his wife and daughter before returning to bed

He testified that he later found his wife and daughter in the kitchen, where he perceived a strong smell of gas.
Nielsen told the court that he had dragged his wife to the living room and asked one of the girls residing with them to carry his daughter.

He said he covered them with two blankets after realizing they had died.

Despite his testimony, the prosecution presented compelling evidence that contradicted Nielsen’s account and established his guilt.

In 2022, the trial judge, Bolanle Okikiolu-Ighile, found Nielsen guilty of murder and sentenced him to death by hanging.

The judge noted that the evidence presented by the prosecution, including forensic reports and witness testimonies, was sufficient to convict Nielsen.

The defense’s attempt to attribute the deaths to a gas leak was dismissed by the court.
