I called wike after the video went viral that he should have spoken with me first 🤷♀️
Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has finally sp0ken on the viral c0nfr0ntati0n between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Naval officer Lt. A. Yerima and his message is clear the officer did NOTHING wr0ng.
According to a rep0rt by Sun Nigeria (Nov 13, 2025), Matawalle said Yerima was simply obeying orders during the land dispute in Abuja. He stre$sed that the young officer remained calm, re$pectful, and di$ciplined exactly how a trained soldier should act.
Matawalle also revealed that he pers0nally called Wike after the video went viral, telling him that instead of confr0nting military officers on site, he should have contacted the Ministry of Defence or the Chief of Defence Staff to res0lve the issue profe$$ionally.
The Defence Minister added that the Chief of Naval Staff has now visited the disputed land to begin a proper investigation. If the land was officially rev0ked, he said, then due process must be foll0wed legally and dipl0matically not thr0ugh public c0nfr0ntation.
In simple terms
✔️ The officer followed instructions
✔️ He br0ke no military rule
✔️ He should NOT be puni$hed
This saga is still unfolding, but one thing is certain discipline won that day, not chaos.
