Although the American independence is celebrated on July 4th, july 2nd is considered as the actual date of the decision because on July 2nd, 1776, the continental congress voted for independence from Great Britain paving the way for the United States freedom.
Additionally, July 2nd is celebrated as emancipation day in the Bahamas marking the abolition of slavery in 1834.

There are different types of journalism each with each own unique focus and approach and they include:
INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM: this is an in depth reporting that involves researching and exposing hidden or concealed information often related to wrong doing, corruption or abuse of power.
BROADCAST JOURNALISM: this is reporting news and current events on television, radio or online platforms.
PRINT JOURNALISM: this is reporting news and current events on newspapers, magazines and other print publications.
DIGITAL JOURNALISM: this is reporting news and current events online, often incorporating multimedia elements like videos, podcasts and interactive graphics.
CITIZEN JOURNALISM: this is reporting news by individuals who are not professional journalists , often using social media and blogs to share news and information.
DATA JOURNALISM: this is the using of data analysis and visualization to tell stories and uncover insights.
PHOTO JOURNALISM : this is the using of photographs to tell news stories and convey information to the public.
SPORTS JOURNALISM: this is reporting on various types of sports news and events via different media to the public .
ENTERTAINMENT JOURNALISM: this is news reporting on entertainment industry including movies , music and celebrities.
BUSINESS JOURNALISM: this is reporting on business news, trends and economic issues.
POLITICAL JOURNALISM: this is news reporting on politics, government, and public policy.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOURNALISM: this is news reporting on environmental issues such as climate change, conservation and sustainability.
HEALTH JOURNALISM: this is reporting on health news, medical research and health care policy.

Journalism is the practice of gathering, processing, and disseminating news and information to the public through various media channels such as news papers,magazines, television, radio and online platforms.
That means the job of journalists is to research, investigate and report on current events, issues and trends aiming to inform , educate and engage their audience.
Good journalism involves research and investigation, gathering facts and evidence to support stories, accuracy and fairness, presenting balanced and accurate information, objectivity, striving to report without bias or personal agenda, transparency, clearly sourcing information and acknowledging potential conflicts of interest.
Journalism plays a crucial role in holding those in power accountable, providing a platform for diverse voices and informing the public.

Dr Paul Zoll was born in Boston, Massachusetts in USA on July 15,1911.
His parents Hyman and Mollie Zoll were Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe , specifically Lithuania and Belarus who met in the United States and settled in the Boston district of Roxbury.
Dr Zoll spent most of his life in Massachusetts attending Boston Latin school and later graduating summa cm laude from Harvard university.and Harvard medical school.
Summa cm laude is a Latin phrase which means “with highest praise ” or “with highest honors”.
It’s an academic distinction awarded to students who achieve a very high level of academic excellence typically in the 1-5% of their class.
In US, summa cm laude is often awarded to students who achieve a GPA of 3.9 or higher out of 4.0, who completes rigorous coursework, research, or thesis projects, demonstrate exceptional academic performance and achievement.
Receiving summa cm laude distinction is a notable achievement reflecting a student’s hard work , dedication and academic excellence.
He practiced cardiology in the Boston area and passed away on January 5, 1999 in Chesnut Hill Massachusetts.
Did you know history records Dr Paul Zoll successfully used an external cardiac pacemaker to regulate a patient’s heart beat on June 16, 1952 , making a ground breaking advancement in cardiology ?

For the sake of your mental health set boundaries on how much news you consume , and take regular breaks.
Select news sources that are trust worthy, fact based with balanced views.
This means you should be cautious of news outlets that dwells more on sensational or provocative contents.
Take practical measures by searching for stories that highlight solutions, progress or positive developments instead of getting bogged down by negative news.
If you have been following my write-ups, you should know by now that i am a positive thinker and always in a positive spirit, so my next paragraph is worth reading.
Kindly prioritize self care , you can engage in activities that promote mental and emotional well being such as exercise,meditation, or spending time in nature which is my favorite.
Expose yourself to different viewpoints and opinions to gain a more understanding of news topics.
News consumption is good and can be bad so listen and watch news with care.

So as you all know the opposite of advantage is disadvantage.
We had fun with the advantages of news on my last journal and today we will highlight the disadvantages of news and at the end you will see if you can resonate with some bullet point.
Exposure to negative news can lead to feelings of stress, anxiety and overwhelm.
The 24 hour news circle can be overwhelming making it difficult to process and retain information.
News sources may be bias and prejudiced which can lead to polarization.
Polarization thrives on division of people, groups or societies into two or more sharply contrasting groups often with strongly opposing views or ideologies.
Exposure to negative news before bedtime can distrust your sleep and give you nightmares.
Constant exposure to negative news can make you become less sensitive or responsive to issues.

A naval officer in Ikot-Abasi branch , Akwa-Ibom state dived into the cold sea to rescue an 11 year old boy who had fallen off the sea shore this morning the 12 of June 2025 on his way to school with his mom.
imagine tunning in to your favorite news channel in your community on a monday morning to such an exciting news.
Indeed it can be uplifting and inspiring.
Yes, news can have positive and negative effects on you and the society at large.
Let’s dwell on the positive effects for now.
News consumption can keep people informed about current events helping them make informed decision , for instance we can become aware of an outbreak of an epidemic and how to combat it through news consumption.
News can hold those in power accountable for their actions.
News can land you your dream job offer through advertisement.
Imagine tuning in to your favorite news channel on a Monday morning to the exciting news of fuel or gas price decrease in your country.
Goodnews can provide a welcome break from negative news.

Cable news network ( CNN ) was launched on June 1,1980, by American media proprietor Ted Turner together with his company , Turner broadcasting system (TBS ).
CNN was the first television channel to provide 24 hour news coverage making it a game changer for media houses.
It is available in over 200 countries and territories worldwide, making it one of the most widely distributed news networks globally.
CNN’s headquarters are located Atlanta, Georgia USA, with additional studios and bureaus around the world.
CNN has hosted several prominent anchors including Larry King, Christiane Amanpour, Anderson Cooper, , Rosemary Church , Jake Tapper and a host of others.
It has received numerous awards for its professional journalism , including multiple Emmy awards, Peabody awards, and Alfred I..duPoint-Columbia University Awards.
It has a strong online presence with a website link that provides news article, videos, and live streaming.
CNN is a historic news channel, 45 years old today and is one of my favorite news channels.
