Federal Government, Labour Unions Agree On The Following ::

i) The Federal Government has announced N25,000 only as provisional wage increment for all treasury-paid federal government workers for six months.

ii) The Federal Government is committed to fast-tracking the provision of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to ease public transportation difficulties associated with the removal of PMS subsidy.

iii) The Federal Government commits to the provision of funds for micro and small-scale enterprises.

iv) VAT on diesel will be waived for the next 6 months.

v) The Federal Government will commence payment of N75,000 to 15 million households at N25,000 per month, for a three-month period from October-December 2023.

RESOLUTIONS:

In light of the discussions held during the meeting, the following resolutions were reached:

i) The issues in dispute can only be resolved when workers are at work and not when they are on strike.

ii) Labour Unions argued for higher wage award and the Federal Government Team promised to present Labour’s request to President Bola Tinubu for further consideration.

iii) A sub-committee to be constituted to work out the details of implementation of all items for consideration regarding government interventions to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

iv) The lingering matter of Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State needs to be addressed urgently and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who participated virtually, pledged to resolve the matter.

v.) NLC and TUC will consider the offers by the Federal Government with a view to suspending the planned strike to allow for further consultations on the implementation of the resolutions above.

The United States National Security Agency (NSA) has granted $1.5m to Louisiana State University to create a pilot Cybersecurity Clinic to protect small businesses that are targets of cyberattacks.

A brilliant Nigerian lady named Yusuf Imoitesemeh Aminat has broken the 40-year-old record of Lagos state university (LASU), Nigeria after scoring a perfect 5.00 cumulative grade point average and emerged as the overall best-graduating student.

Yusuf Aminat bagged her degree from the Faculty of Law in Lagos state university, Nigeria with the highest-grade point average which made her the overall best student of the 2021/2022 academic session.

She remained outstanding all through the five-year course in school scoring A in all the tests and examinations she participated in.

The Vice-chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello announced her as the top of all 282 first class graduates that was recorded for the 2021/2022 session with a 5.00 GPA which is the first in the institution’s 40 years of history. She described her achievement as a laudable feat for her faculty and the university.

A brilliant Nigerian lady named Zainab Muhammad Wakil has achieved outstanding success by beating her colleagues to emerge as the best-graduating student of Pharmacy at the University of Maiduguri, Borno in Nigeria.

Zainab Muhammad Wakil emerged as the best-graduating student out of 65 other inductees who participated in the rigorous training with a 4.93/5.0 cumulative grade point.

In recognition of her success, the young pharmacist was offered an automatic appointment by the University of Maiduguri. She also won numerous merit-able awards from the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria.

Congratulating her, Zainab’s teacher, Yusuf Semiu shared a post on his Facebook with her pictures boasting of her achievements and expressing how she has always been an outstanding student right from her secondary school days.

“Sincerely, it is not amazing to me to celebrate you today. I have been celebrating you right from your secondary school days in El-kanemi College of Islamic Theology, Maiduguri where I taught you Chemistry, a noble science subject which translates into the choice of your noble career,” he said.

“Then, you assisted me actually to learn how to synthesize and manufacture many pathways to impact the knowledge at room temperature and pressure on you and your colleagues. I glorify Allah for the gift He bestows on you. Let me say a biggest congrats to you. Baarakallahu feek,” he added.
