Meet the Ijebu man who owns Valuejet Airline

His name is Kunle Soname. He is a Nigerian businessman with an estimated net worth of over $100 million, possibly up to $500 million. He has diverse interests in sports, betting, aviation, and real estate.

The airline’s daily operations are managed by Captain Omololu Majekodunmi, who serves as the CEO.

The airline was founded in 2018 but commenced operations on October 10, 2022, with flights to Abuja, Port Harcourt, Asaba, and Jos.

Soname is the Chairman of the sports betting website Bet9ja and owner of Portuguese football club C.D. He is also the president of Remo stars football club.

Lagos Blue Line Slashes Travel Time: Marina to Mile 2 in Just 10 Minutes as Trips Jump to 90 Daily

Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line will now operate every 10 minutes from Monday, 11th August 2025, cutting journey times by a remarkable eight minutes and delivering a 44% boost in time savings.

The upgraded schedule means weekday trips will soar from 72 to 90 daily, offering faster, more frequent service between Marina and Mile 2. Four train sets will run during rush hours, with two handling off-peak trips. Saturday trips will also increase, while the Sunday schedule remains at 22.

According to Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), this leap in efficiency is powered by newly procured rolling stock supported by both the Lagos State Government and the Federal Government.

“We are excited to facilitate this increase in trips,” Akinajo said. “Our goal is a world-class, sustainable transport system that drives Lagos’ growth. The expansion in rolling stock is also a sign of what’s to come full Blue Line operations to Okokomaiko by late 2026.”

Since commencing passenger service on 4th September 2023, the Blue Line has carried over 5 million passengers. The eagerly awaited second phase is set to be completed by the end of 2026, with full operations beginning in early 2027.
