When hunger becomes a tool of politics, charity becomes a weapon of control. In societies where leaders deliberately keep the masses poor, every bag of rice handed out isn’t just food, it’s a leash. It’s not compassion; it’s manipulation disguised as kindness. When a government or politician fails to build structures that empower people to feed themselves, and instead relies on distributing palliatives during hardship, they are not solving poverty, they are sustaining it. They understand that a hungry population is easier to control, to praise, and to pacify. So charity becomes a performance, a carefully staged theatre where the benefactor plays savior, while the people stay trapped in cycles of dependence. True leadership eliminates the need for charity by creating dignity through opportunity. But where that is lacking, charity becomes not a blessing, but a bribe.
