The History Of Urhobo People | ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ
Obruke Orodje ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช

Some historical writings about the Urhobo people by certain historians are flawed. It would be disrespectful to mention the authors, but it's disapp0inting to see these inaccuracies due to insufficient research before publishing.
Do not accept the incorrect narrative that the Urhobo's originated from Ife. The true Ife where the Urhobo lived during the flood was Uhe (Ufe) in Omala L.G.A, Kogi State. The Uhe (Ufe) in Kogi is over 3000 years older than the well-known Ife of the Yoruba.

As Obruke Orodje previously explained, Urhobo means the family of priests. Urhobo was the ancestral name of the current Urhobo (Isoko), Edo, Esan, Etsako, Owan, Old Ukwaini, and many Western Ijaws who later intermarried with the original Ijaws known as Oru. In Ukwaini, they say their ancestors were Aka, and they still honor Aka's legacy as Ogber'Aka in their territory. These are all families of priests, which is the meaning of Urhobo.

Our Urhobo and Isoko brothers should reject the false claims by some historians that Evwreni, Enhwe, and Igbide have Igbo origins. This is disrespectful and untrue to Evwreni, Enwe, and Igbide of Urhobo (Isoko). I have shown several times that the ancestors of Evwreni and Enhwe came from Ogber'Aka, the ancestral home of the Urhobo in Edo South. Evwreni and the 2nd phase of Enhwe is linked to the history of Alaka, who became Akalaka, the common ancestor of Ikwerre, Ekpeye, and Ogba.

There are five major tribes in Rivers State with Urhobo/Aka origins:
1. Engenni,
2. Degema,
3. Ikwerre,
4. Ekpeye, and
5. Ogba

Among others, are descendants of Idu through Aka, the main bearer of the Urhobo identity. The history of the Igbide clan of Isoko started from Erhowha. The community called Ovwodokpokpor in Igbide was formerly Erhowa. The Igbide clan of Erhowa was formed when Ovie Evron or Uvwie failed to manage his people at Erhowha. The ancestor of the current Uvwie and Effurun Otor Kingdom of Urhobo was Ofene Ughe, who married Princess Igbide, the daughter of Okhi Ale(King) of Erhowa, now Isoko. From the present Igbide of Isoko emerged Mgbidi of Imo State. Don't worry, I will share the entire history of the Igbide clan of Isoko another day.

As I mentioned in my previous post, Isoko was derived from the Urhobo people of Ukori of Agbon Kingdom. As our distant brothers, we shared the same deities and bloodline. The Isokos were originally Urhobo people with a political identity from 1957-1963. In fact, they started planning to separate 31 years before this time, and it was achieved. However, the purpose has not been fulfilled since 1963, initiated by James ร“tobo of the Uzere clan.

All ancestors of Edo, Esan, Etsako, Ancient Ukwaini, and partly Ijaws are all Urhobo people with a new identity.
This does not mean they are descendants of the present Urhobo in Delta State. No, it is not so. The difference is that the current Urhobo people have maintained their collective names to this day. If you go to Edo South, you will find many communities and quarters of Urhobo that are three times older than any community of Urhobo in the Delta territory.
We do not have Ijaws that became Urhobo, but we have many Urhobos that have become Ijaws. We have many Urhobos that have become Edo. We have many Urhobos that have become Etsako. Many of the Etsako people migrated from Udo and Ikpe, original communities/towns founded by the Urhobo in Edo South.
Note that the Urhobo people of Edo South did not come from the Urhobo people of Delta, except for communities like Obadjere and Ovwre Eku etcs, who are Agbon people of Urhobo. They are my bl00d lines because Obruke Orodje is from Agbon Kingdom of Urhobo .

Many of the Urhobo have become Ukwaini with the identities of Akarians. The first inhabitants of the Evbo Ikhimwin territory of Esan were formerly Urhobo people.

Ladies and gentlemen, I, Obruke Orodje, urge all Urhobo people to stop reading books promoted by the foreigners that claim Urhobo are connected to Ile Ife of the Yoruba. This was done to elevate the Yoruba due to the h@rdships they faced in their territory.

Before the arrival of the Br1t1sh, a well-known Igala Prince named Tsoede, who became the ruler of Nupe, inv@ded Oyo in 1457AD.
The Fulani also konkad Oyo from 1825 to 1835. There was a lot of sl@ve3ry in the Y0ruba territory before the arrival of the Br1t1sh in 1850. The Br1t1sh pitied them, rebranded them by joining people of different origins, thereby making Ile Ife their ancestral home, which is untrue.

Obruke Orodje encourages Urhobo people to disregard any history linking Ile Ife to the Urhobos. Urhobo predates Ile Ife by over 3,000 years. We can easily say that the Ile Ife of today's Yoruba is a product of Urhobo depend on your view on Oduduwa.
In fact, the Erhogwha of Isoko, formerly Urhobo people in the Delta territory, is older than Ile Ife of today's Yoruba. The Ovwuwelame spot formerly Uhumwuduwun of the Abraka territory is almost 900 years plus older than Ile Ife not to mention of the Urhobo territories in Edo State . Names of this ancient Abraka territory changed overtime... It was originally the outpost of Igodomigodo Kingdom .

Be very careful as an Urhobo person when discussing Urhobo history. The only people comparable to the Urhobo ethnic group are the people of Uhe in the current Omala L.G.A of Kogi State.

Embracing the sweetness of living naturally with others, free from the desire to konka, is truly liberating - Obruke Orodje

The benefits reap3d by Benin and Itsekiris during the Benin emp1re through the P0rtuguese are naturally fading away, making room for new growth for others .

Edo State :
Edo State is witnessing a surge in kings from Esan and Edo North embracing their royal heritage, equal in value to the Oba of Benin. A change from Hrh to HRM ๐Ÿ‘‘ .

Delta :
Itsekiri p0litical foundation, though facing challenges, thereby internally reducing the wealth accomplished by them in the past through Oba of Benin , Portuguse, Brit1sh and Awolowo into nothing .

It's clear that living naturally with our brothers, rather than trying to konka them, is the key to true pr0sperity. These are the lessons we can learn from our history. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Urhobo (Isoko) Political Separation From Their Bl00d Brothers, That Led to Stunted Growth in Isoko since 1951/1963 ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜ญ

As an Urhobo man, my fellow Isoko bl00d brothers, why distance yourself from your Urhobo heritage?

Obruke Orodje, also known as Urhobo People, is here to simplify this for you. The Isoko should remain close to their Urhobo brothers to promote unity and strength. However, maintaining a distinct political identity is your choice. Why do Urhobo historians struggle so much to convey the history of Isoko and reveal their true identity? It's as simple as ABC.

Our blood brothers, the Isoko, claim they gave birth to Urhobo? How is it possible to give birth to one's ancestors? Let me address this directly. In the Land of Aka, now Edo South, the only ethnic group mentioned as going to Uhe to pay homage to their ancestors are the Urhobo people and the Oba of Benin. There is no written history stating that Esan, Isoko, Owan, or Etsako go to Uhe.

This is another way to identify an Edo person who falsely claims the word Edo was ancient. During the reign of Oba Ewuare The Great (1440-1473 AD), the Obas of Benin stopped going to Uhe. Oba Ewuare, formerly Prince Ogun, invoked the spirit of his ancestor Pa Idu to where his descendants reside, which is Aka. The word Edo wasn't used to describe the tribes who paid homage to our ancestors, only Urhobos and the Royal House of Aka(Benin). You can see that Edo was a new name introduced to this area by the Portuguse .

This also applies to Isoko as a name for an ethnic group. The Isoko were originally Urhobo people with a new identity derived from one of the Urhobo Kingdoms called Agbon, referring to their distant brothers who shared the same ancestry and deities. The word Isoko came from Kokori of Agbon Kingdom of the Urhobo people. What the current generation of our Isoko brothers doesn't know is that the Urhobo communities in Edo South are three times older than any Urhobo (Isoko) settlement in present-day Delta aparts from the Abraka territory . These are the Urhobos who chose to remain near their ancestral home and are under the lordship of the Oba of Benin. These Urhobos rejected the identity of being called Edo and retained their original Urhobo identity despite being under the Oba of Benin's control. There are also other Urhobos who are now part of the Edo ethnic groups as well.

The current Urhobo (Isoko) territory in Delta, apart from the Abraka territory, is new to the Urhobo communities in Edo State. Erhowha, formerly Urhobo people, arrived in their Delta territory in 884 AD. Note that the current Abraka location was formerly Uhumwuduwun, established as an outpost of Igodomigodo during the reign of Ogiso Ere by his uncle Ogรฉnรฉ. This place was established around 16 AD. Oghรฉnรฉ was sent to the new Uhumwuduwun along with his elder brother ร“bo, who was the original ancestor of the Ukwuani people.
Both ร“bo and Oghรฉnรฉ were Urhobo men under the Aka lineage. They were Urhobo people under the Igodomigodo dynasty. But this territory declined due to the fear of Oghwoghwa and his warrior son Agbarha, who opposed the Oba dynasty. Oghwoghwa arrived from Aka before 1170 AD.

These are the reasons no Isoko person can claim to have given birth to Urhobo. This political separation was inspired by James ร“tobo, and they achieved victory in 1957 and fully in 1963. They had been working on it for 31 years before their victory. Urhobos have existed long ago over 5500 years .

Let Obruke Orodje clarify the history concerning Effurun Otor and Uvwie Kingdom, believed to have broken away from Erhowa. Let's set the record straight. The Urhobo man, Ofene Ughe was the ancestor of Effurun Otor and Uvwie. He was invited by the king of Erhowha in 1170 AD due to his health issues. Ofene Ughe was a very powerful medicine man. His arrival brought prosperity and greatness to Erhowha, such that the King of Erhowha gave his princess to Ofene Ughe. Ofene Ughe, with his new wife, married Princess Igbide, the daughter of the King, and fathered Evron (Uvwie), Oporu, and Otuรณmรณ, among others.
When Okhi Ale of Erhowa was too old, he installed Ofene Ughe as King.
To summarize, Ofene Ughe and his son Uvwie became Ovie of Erhowa before many issues arose. Uvwie had seven sons from two Ijaw women and fathered Imowe, the eldest among others. Imowe left that territory for a new direction with his siblings and founded Effurun Otor. From Effurun Otor, Uvwie was created. The name Evron is what is corrupted to become Effurun.

Now, ladies and gentlemen, you can see that Ofene Ughe was already an Urhobo man who arrived in 1170 AD, invited by the Okhi Ale of Erhogwha. It was Ofene Ughe, the Urhobo man originally from Ughoton in the current Edo South , who married another Urhobo princess from Erhowha, who later gave birth to the people of Effurun Otor, Uvwie of Urhobos, and Otuรณmรณ (Tuomo) of Ijaw. Urhobo lost Otuรณmรณ and Oporu to Ijaw. Today, there is a very strong relationship between Urhobo and Ijaws through Effurun Otor, Uvwie, Oporoza, Gbaraun, and Otuรณmรณ.

Obruke Orodje is asking, let's be realistic... Our Isoko brothers, can you please go and tell the Ijaws that Otuรณmรณ and parts of Oporoza are Isoko people? You can't do that because you lost the collective identity to relate with them, which is Urhobo. Only the Urhobo people can do that because we have adhered to our ancestors' name for over 5,500+ years.

No matter how small the Urhobo communities in the Edo South territory are, their home is three times older than any Urhobo or Isoko settlement in Delta apart from the Abraka spot.
Anyway, let me stop for now.

Urhobo (Isoko) vs. Their Eur0pean C0l0ni@l M@sters. The Heavenly Bible Of Araya ๐Ÿ˜ญ.

The Bible that appeared in Araya of the Aviara Clan of Urhobo was a c0l0nial strategy to d1minish the influence of those connected to Aka, now Benin, in 1170 AD. I view Isoko as part of the Urhobo. The mentioned clan is currently within Isoko.

The term Isoko originated from Kokori of the Agbon Kingdom of Urhobo. Their distant brothers , who shared similar beliefs, were identified as Isi-oko, meaning distant brethren who worshipped the same deities.

Let Obruke Orodje go a little bit wide.
Remember, the title Uku Akpolokpolo was bestowed upon Oba Eweka II of the Benin Kingdom in the Agbon Kingdom of Urhobo. Oba Eweka II paid homage to us for many years. Annually, items like palm oil, Akan (Urhobo Cola), coconut, and native chalk were given to us. This was to fortify the new Oba after the 1897 inv@sion, allowing the Benin kingdom to overcome the obstacles left by the Br1t1sh in Aka. My grandfather, known as Unmujanor, a formidable medicine man, was among those who fortified Oba Eweka II. The l@te Dore Numa was a witness of this events.

Dore Numa, who contributed to the downfall of the Benin Kingdom by advising the Brit1sh on how to overthrow Oba Obvoranmen. Dore Numa succeeded in his betr@yal and was involved in the fortification of the new Eweka II in the Agbon Kingdom. The story involving Dore Numa activities in betraying and still involved in the new Oba coronation is personal . It's a secret to the Urhobo People and the Benin of that Era. It's a deep secret that is only for us. You can see how trustworthy the Urhobo's are . If it was Urhobo with such problem the Benin man would disgr@ce them and used the opportunity to make them the weakest tribe among Nigerians . The Urhobo's are the real immortals ๐Ÿ’ช. Secrete kept until date. A Benin man is not suppose to joke with an Urhobo person.

However, let me get to the main point.
Let Obruke Orodje surprise you. The same year Oba Obvoranmen was k1ll3d, the Aviara of Urhobo community, what is now Isoko claimed a Bible fell from heaven in 1914.
I am referring to 1914, a significant year for the Br1t1sh. It's regrettable that former Urhobo people still believe the story that a Br1t1sh-arranged Eur@pe Bble fell from the sky.

The Br1t1sh used the term Usobo, which Dore Numa and Itsekiris called Urhobos until they rejected it. The Urhobos in Kwara, Ekiti, and Niger State have no knowledge of Usobo, a term falsely imposed by the Itsekiris. Only those near Itsekiris were familiar with Usobo. It was the Itsekiris who adapted names like Urhobo, Orhiomwon River, Urhiapele, Idjerhe, Otor Ughievwen to Usobo, Ossiomon , Sapele, Jesse, and Otujeremi.

During the 1914 amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorates, the Itsekiri man Dore Numa was a high chief working with the Br1t1sh to form modern Nigeria. However, he later d1ed mis3r@bly.

P0l1tics can be d@nger0us, making you resent your brothers due to misle@ding ideas from your enem1es. This is the s1tuation with Isoko to this day. The year the Bible story emerged was the same year Oba Obvoranmen was k1ll3d, and the north and south protectorates were amalgamated. I am referring to 1914.

Let's look at the Yoruba and Igbos to see how the Br1t1sh crafted a well-established history for them.

The Yoruba still claim that Oduduwa descended from the sky with a fowl. It's incredible how humans supposedly started falling from the sky in the 10th century.

The Igbos claim Eri, their ancestor, also descended from above, even though he was an Igala man. People no longer acknowledge their true ident1ties due to pol1tical motives. I will share the full history of the colonial B1ble, falsely believed to have fallen from the sky in Araya, formerly Urhobo, now Isoko, another day.

I will also reveal Oduduwa's true identity soon. If anything were to fall from the sky for the Urhobo people, it should be in their indigenous language, not in English, which they do not understand. What have these foreigners done to us to render us powerless and cause us to fight among ourselves?

These are some Urhobo men before any Urhobo (Isoko) territory was separately inhabited from Aka. The Urhobo ethnic group signifies the family of priests. The individuals listed below are Urhobo men who became ancestors of the present locations inhabited by Urhobo (Isoko) people. Urhobo men like
Pa Idu of 1800 BCE
Akan 1700 BCE
Udo 1655 BCE
Orudu r'Udo and son Ogiso Igodo 40 BCE
ร“bo and Ogรฉnรฉ 40 BCE
Ogiso Ere 16 AD
Ogiso Orhirhe 66 AD
Ogiso Efeseke 494 AD
Ogiso Evwotor 584 AD
Ogiso Akpobrisi 647 AD
Ogiso Ovwede 871 AD, etc.

All these are some of the people who carried the Urhobo identity in Aka before their descendants, the present Urhobo (Isoko), migrated to the current Delta territory, distinct from Igodomigodo. Remember, the Urhobo people are the only natural ethnic group of Idu that spread across many states in Nigeria without c@nquering the original inhabitants of any land.

Many Urhobos are now Ijaw, covering a large part of Ado Ijaw. Consider the Urhobo communities throughout Edo South. These have no current connection with the present Urhobos in Delta. In fact, the Urhobo communities in present-day Edo are three times older than any community of either the current Urhobo or Isoko in Delta.

I, Obruke Orodje, will eventually change the mindset of thousands of Isoko people to recognize their true Urhobo identity. Please be patient with me.

The Following Are Urhobo People.

Obruke Orodje is about to reconnect you with your ancestors โœ…

2000 BCE
Papa Ere was an ร“bo (Priest & Medicine Man). He was the father of Pa Idu, the greatest traditionalist ever to live.

1800 BCE
Pa Idu served as the chief priest in Uhe, leading everyone through the great flood alongside other priests. He was the leader of all priestly families. The term Urhobo signifies Pa Idu and his priestly family .

1700 BCE
Pa Aka embodied the Urhobo identity and became the ancestor of the present-day Urhobo (Isoko), Akan, Original Ukwaini, Ado Ijaws, Etsako-Auchi, Original Edo's before 1897, Ikwerre, Ekpeye, Ogba, Degema, Engenni, Evbo Ikhimwhin of Esan, among others. The current Urhobo people have retained their original collective names of Idu or Aka for over 5000 years, known as Urhobo.

1655 BCE
Udo was a priest who continued Pa Idu's Urhobo legacy through his father Aka. Udo established Udo town, 50 km from Ogber'Aka, independent of surrounding communities. From Udo, most of the current western Urhobo and eastern Urhobo (Isoko) kingdoms originated.

Idu means cocoyam in the Urhobo language, the earliest food of the Urhobo people, essential for their survival. It was also their father's name. It's very difficult to other ethnic groups to provide a proper meaning of the word Idu in their language, except the Urhobos.

Akan means Bitter kola. He symbolized the people's tradition after the great flood pushed them back to their devastated territory. Aka and his younger brothers Efa and Emehi started afresh , with Aka founding Ogber'Aka in a new territory. The belief that Pa Idu was born in Ogber'Aka is incorrect. Neither Aka, Efa, nor Emehi was born there. The ancestral home of Pa Idu and Aka was washed away by the flood. Upon returning from Uhe, Aka initiated a new beginning and established Ogber'Aka, meaning Aka's territory.

Udo signifies strong-heartedness, bringing peace and decisive victory. Anything used to overcome challenges is referred to as Udo. A stone and mortar can be considered Udo. The word Okuta for stone, used by the Urhobos, Edos, Esan, etc., was adopted from Uhe. The hill where our ancestor Pa Idu lived for a long time was called Okuta.

Oghene was derived from the four powers that some Urhobo men like Pa Idu believed in. Oghene means Ogaga r'Ene, representing the four powers of the world:
1. Erhimwin,
2. Ojuvwu,
3. Otor, and
4. Urhie (Ame).

No tribe understands the meaning of these ancient words of their ancestors except the true owners, who maintained their traditions and originality, known as Oghene and Urhobo. Urhobo is ancient and the progenitor of many tribes today ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŽคUrhobo Wado ๐Ÿ‘

This Is Isoko, formerly Urhobo People ๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿ’ฏ.

The Isoko people share a deep history with the Urhobos. Historical research indicates that some Isoko recognize their migration from Benin, whereas the Urhobos trace their origins to Aka, now known as Edo South. These are just narratives by the Isokos in other to separate polit1cally from their former Urhobo identity despite knowing fully they are direct descendants of Aka the Urhobo man .
Urhobo's both groups avoided using "Benin" as their origin until 1963 when Isoko was formed.

"Note that the Isoko people are very ancient as Urhobo people until they completely changed their identity from Urhobo to Isoko"

It's very clear the Benin kingdom, founded in 1170AD, followed the Igodomigodo Kingdom from 40BCE - 1100AD. Thus, those existing before the Benin Kingdom refrain from using "Benin." The Benin people were initially Urhobo, referring to Pa Idu and his priestly family (Urhobo) .

The terms Urho and ร“bo appear in the language of all Pa Idu descendants. The term Edo emerged with the Portuguese arrival in 1472AD. The meaning of Edo is unknown to those near the Edo people. Edo clans existed in Spain and Japan since 757AD and 1180AD. The Spanish Edo was established by Alphonso II in Northern Spain's Asturias Principality, and the Japanese Edo was founded around 1180AD by Edo Shigenaga, a samurai.
The Portuguese introduced Edo to Nigeria in 1472AD by Rui De Sequira and Joรคo Alphonso De Avierio in 1486, forming the Edo ethnic group to the already existing Benin Kingdom. The Urhobo people reject this classification of Edoid , preferring to be identified as the Urhoboid group, the ancient identity .

The Urhobo people prioritize authenticity over fiction. However, some Isoko people compromise their true identity due to polit1cs, referring to their ancestral home as Benin instead of Aka. This distinction is significant, reflecting the unique identities and experiences of these groups. When an Isoko person claims Benin origins, they inadvertently dimin1sh their heritage, likening it to tribes like Itsekiri and Issele Ukwu, founded by the Oba's sons. This comparison is unsettling for the Urhobos, who share common ancestry with the Isokos.

I Obruke Orodje, as an Agbon individual, have always admired the Agbarha people, who significantly shaped Urhobo history. Their bravery and resilience are qualities I deeply respect, and I believe they are why the Urhobo people continue to thrive. My aspiration is to honor the Ovie of Agbarha Otor Kingdom and engage in meaningful dialogue about the past, emphasizing the Agbarha lineage's positive contributions to all 24 Urhobo kingdoms. It's ok , Let's focus on Isoko .
The Isoko people, formerly Urhobos, have sought to establish their distinct identity, especially since their separation in 1957, formalized in 1963. This separation stemmed from the perception that the Western Urhobos, now known as the Urhobo people, gained wealth from European trade, while the Eastern Urhobos (Isokos) were left behind. However, this narrative overlooks the Itsekiris and the Oba's of Benin's dominance in European trade, limiting both Western and Eastern Urhobos' (Isoko) access to wealth.

The Isoko's quest for separation was led by politician James ร“tobo, who advocated for it , using the Uzere dialect as a unifying language.

Today, the Isoko people strive for recognition and political standing within Delta State, but their efforts are often hindered by a lack of understanding of their historical connection with their true bl@ brothers, Urhobo's .
It is cruci@l for the Isoko people to acknowledge their shared heritage with the Urhobos and recognize the importance of their ancestral roots in Aka. By doing so, they can reclaim their rightful place in history and strengthen their identity.

The Itsekiri people, long-standing rivals of the Urhobos & Ijaws, despite being loved often celebrate div1sions within the Urhobo group. However, it's essential to remember the Urhobos' rich and diverse heritage, with various kingdoms and communities contributing to their collective identity.

As we progress, it's vital to celebrate our shared humanity and work towards inclusivity and harmony. Let's uplift one another, rather than dividing or diminishing. By doing so, we can create a brighter future for ourselves and future generations.

Urhobo | Uhe (Igala) | Portuguese | British

There's a saying that the patient dog eats the fattest bone. The Urhobos have been patient. When will they enjoy the fattest bone?

Obruke Orodje is about to surprise you ๐Ÿซข .
The Urhobo issue began around Uhe when Aka, the eldest son, was denied his right to become the next Chief priest after his father, Pa Idu, who saved many during the great flood. Our ancestor married a woman from Uhe (Igala) and had Efa and Emehi, his second and third sons, with a second wife in Uhe.
These children became power-hungry and disrupted Aka and his son Udo's rule. Udo served as Odionrode/Odionwere until Efa and Emehi att@cked him.
This forced Udo to travel 50 km away from Ogber'Aka, his ancestral home, to establish his own community called Udo.
This illustrates how problems began in Pa Idu's family, which was harmonious until he married into another ethnic group unfamiliar with his traditions.
Efa and Emehi, the offspring, became problem@tic to Idu's priestly family (Urhobo).

That's why Obruke Orodje advises against marrying from the Itsekiris, who don't understand Urhobo traditions. The offspring from current-day Urhobo and Itsekiris continue Itsekiri lineage, not Urhobo's. Remember, Okotie Eboh & Reno Omokri were Urhobo men who later aligned with Itsekiris. I'd write more about Okotie Eboh's full story, but let's save it for another time. This same issue occurred around 1700 BCE with Pa Idu and his second wife from Uhe (Igala).

Oranmiyan 1170 AD
The bloodline of Oranmiyan was mixed again around Uhe from his father, Oduduwa.
His son, Oranmiyan, was raised in Ufe (Ile Ife). This led Oranmiyan's descendants to become power-hungry and deviate from the traditions of Igodomigodo (Aka). This paragraph's story concerns Oduduwa and Igala. I'll create a proper video about Oranmiyan's true parentage. Many people aren't aware of Igala's greatness, which is why they are mistakenly categorized as Onukunmi or Yoruba. Igala was very powerful and far ahead of anything Onukunmi or Yoruba. Onukunmi or Yoruba is a branch of Igala.
The British dist@rted the stories to sympathize with those oppressed during the Fulanis' att@ck on Yariba (Oyo). The word Yoruba derived from Yariba, meaning deceitfรบl or รนngr@teful. This name was given to the f@llen Oyo empire in 1835.
Many Yoruba were sold by the Fulani jihad to the Portuguese when they refused to accept Islam. Many were taken to Forcados, Escravos, and Ijakpa, all in Itsekiris territory, before being sold to Am@rica.
Those under Nana Olomu and the Oba of Benin's c@ptivity were freed in 1894. Oba Obvoranmen was c@ptured, taken to Warri city, and later exiled to Calabar, passing away in 1914.
These events show how Oranmiyan's descendants, who became the Obas of Benin, affected the originality of Urhobo people.

Portuguese Era :
The Urhobo faced significant challenges during the Portuguese era. When the Benin kingdom declined at the end of Oba Ewuare's reign, after his two sons, Kobuoyowa and Ezhuwera, died, some Urhobos left the kingdom to join other Urhobos in Delta territory. Uwheru kingdom is a clear example.
Uwheru, Omosuomo, Otor Awanre, and Amatolo are children of Odion Alaka, an Urhobo man from Udo. Their migration began in 1472 AD from Udo to Idah in 1515 until they finally reached the Bayelsa territory. Omosuomo became Amasumma. Otor Awanre became Otuan. These three are now Ijaw people in Bayelsa. Only Uwheru among Alaka's children joined Agbarha, who welcomed them in Ughelli North. These are the reasons I'm telling you there is Urhobo Ijaw.

When Benin was declining, Oba Ewuare requested the then-Portuguese Lord Rui De Sequira, who was the governor of Sao Tome and Principe. The Portuguese significantly impacted Benin and its neighbors, and many were subjected. Joรคo Alphonso De Avierio in 1486 became the head administrator of Ughoton down to River Forcados. This entire area was called Avierio districts. The name Avierio was corrupted to Ouwere and later to Iwerre by the indigenous people.
This name was fully c@rrupted by the British to Warri. During this time, the territory Avierio controlled originally belonged to the Mahin or Itsekiri under the lordship of Oba Olua's descendants through Prince Iginua.
Prince Iginua's descendants later became the Olu of Itsekiri. The Benin and Itsekiri territories became very powerful and ruled for over 400 years before the British arrival. Many Urhobos who traded naturally before the Portuguese began paying commissions to the Portuguese through Benin and Itsekiris as middlemen. In fact, the Urhobo people faced numerous challenges, such as paying their debt to Osa, the so-called Osanobua, the Portuguese Lord Rui De Sequira, through the Obas of Benin. Remember, it was the portuguse who were genuinely interested in trading with the Urhobo due to their longtermn marketing skill in Palm oil and local spices . This doesn't cover all Urhobos.

However, the word for debt in the Urhobo language is Osa. Many tribes traded with Osa. The Edo people and Itsekiris acted as middlemen. This Osa is what the Edo people called their god, Osanobua. Benin became powerful by using Itsekiri as the gateway to the sea โ›ต. The Benin empire was formed due to Portuguese support and no longer recognized even its brothers. Benin conquer3d over 400 towns/communities, and many became part of the larger Benin empir3, including the Gold Coast, Sl@ve Coast, and Bight of Benin.
In fact, there's another Edo in Benin Republic that many aren't aware of.

ThankGod for Obruke Orodje, the eye-opener ๐Ÿ™. You can see that the Urhobo people were affected by Benin, who brought the Portuguese into the hinterland.

British Era 1845 - 1930.
The British were beneficial to the Yoruba and Ibo people. They unified many unrelated people of different origins into a larger mass of Yoruba and Igbo. The original name for Igbo was Ibo. With the British arrival, Yariba and Ibo were changed to Yoruba and Igbo. The word Ibo came from the word Hebrew. It's a Portuguese/Spanish word for the unrepentant Hebrews (Jews) who were kept as refug33s in the Iberian Peninsula in Spain. This place still exists today as evidence.
The word for Hebrew is Ibro and Ebro in both Portuguese and Spanish. Ibo was corr@pted from the Latin word Ibro, which is originally Hebrew. This should be a history for another day. I will also explain why the Igbos, Ibibios, and some Esan are so light in complexion among all Nigerians. This wasn't their true nature; it was the Portuguese presence that caused it. This may be shocking until I provide the full history, and you'll be amazed. Let's save this for later.

However, the Urhobos were affected by the Br1t1sh because they dist0rted their history by claiming that the Urhobo people called the Ooni of Ife as Oghene. Ladies and gentlemen, we are not close to Ile Ife at all. Our ancestors went to Uhe in Omala, Kogi State, to pay homage to Pa Idu, their father. This Uhe in Kogi is what the Br1t1sh altered in history to favor the Ile Ife people.
It's been two months since I started posting about this for my Urhobo people on my other page, Idu Igodomigodo. I have been seriously discussing Uhe and Ife on that page, distinguishing them from each other for two months now. If you don't know, I am the owner of the page on Facebook.

Since the time of Ogiso Odoligie, Urhobo people have never truly enjoyed their true nature. This is the time to stand up and win. The sleeping giant must awaken and triumph.

Ladies and gentlemen, I will stop for now as my brain sometimes gets overwhelmed when I'm typing... You can ask me any questions in the comment section about Urhobo (Isoko), Edo, Esan, Etsako, Yoruba, Igbo, Ijaw, Itsekiri, Ibibio, Ikwerre, Ekpeye, Ogba, etc. In fact, ask me questions about Pepper Coast, Ivory Coast, Gold Coast, Sl@ve Coast (Togo, Benin Rep).

I will surely provide the answers oniovo as led by Oghene ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ™Œ. I am your search engine ๐Ÿš‚ .
