The genre of "post mortem"-posthumous photos

Β Β Β Βictorian era was extremely popular to make photos with dead relatives. They tried to give the deceased as natural a pose as possible, drew his eyes and even poured a special solution into them to make the eyes shine as if they were alive. Since in those times there was a very high mortality rate among children, and they simply did not have time to make a photo as a memento, there are many photos of children among the "post mortem" genre.

Somalia was in the midst of a civil war and UN peacekeeping forces had been brought in. On October 3-4, US special forces tried to capture two leaders of anti-government forces, but were fired on with RPGs, lost 2 landing helicopters. CNN showed footage, shot by a Somali journalist, of triumphant Somali fighters carrying the mangled body of a dead Delta fighter through the city. The footage shocked Americans; the U.S. was on the verge of directly intervening in someone else's civil war. But Bill Clinton decided not to repeat the mistakes of Vietnam - all U.S. troops from Somalia withdrew. The action movie "Black Hawk" (2001) tells about these events.
