In a dramatic rescue operation that ended in a gun battle, the Nigeria Police Force has successfully freed Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were kidnapped in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The mother and her children were abducted on the morning of Tuesday, June 3, 2026, while she was driving the boys to school , a routine that turned into a nightmare no family should ever experience.
For three tense days, security operatives worked around the clock, gathering intelligence and monitoring the movements of the kidnappers. Their efforts culminated in a coordinated tactical operation carried out by the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in Ibadan at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

The Inspector-General of Police has commended the professionalism and bravery of the FID-IRT operatives and all officers involved in the operation, describing their commitment as instrumental to the safe outcome.
Security operatives have since intensified efforts in the area to track down fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate. Preliminary intelligence indicates that some suspects escaped with gunshot wounds, and operations are actively ongoing to arrest and prosecute all those involved.
