STEPS TO BUILDING A STRONG SALES TEAM
Earlier today, I had a coaching session with one of the participants in my sales team building program.
We talked about her hiring plan - who to hire and how to hire.
In order to hire right, we had to dissect her business as it is, at the moment.
So I had to run her through these points:
▪︎ Her ideal customers.
▪︎ Customer segments they belong to.
▪︎ The roles she needed to fill right now were she to hire a sales staff.
With these above points covered, we were able to decide who to hire and the next steps to take in order to hire and sustain her sales team.
Lemme give you some practical insights from what we did.
First, she was clear about the kind of quality customers that she wants to serve. However, she didn't know they belonged in two different target audiences. We ended up describing her two target audiences - one, a B2C audience, the other, a B2B audience.
The big reveal here is that your marketing will not work if you're using the same marketing messages to target customers who belong in different target audiences.
For example, Jessica (not her real name) is targeting career women to sell her bespoke clothing and ready-to-wear.
She's also targeting corporate clients who need uniform wears.
The marketing content needed to convince either of these two target audiences isn't the same.
Second, we identified the customer segments that she can concentrate her energies on to generate sales.
For example, bankers are a customer segment under the 'career women' target audience; hotels are a customer segment under the 'corporate clients' target audience.
Get the drift?
By knowing who her ideal customers are and the customer segments they fall into, Jessica will be able to do lead generation, run targeted ads, do referral marketing, make cold calls to introduce her business, and even do direct marketing.
But she doesn't have to do it all herself.
Does she?
She can simply hire someone to join her sales team to get things done.
By figuring out her ideal customers and customer segments, we were able to identify the roles her present level of business requires.
These are:
Someone to generate leads.
Someone to make cold/follow-up calls.
Someone to create sales content - call scripts, captions, sales page, and so on - for her marketing.
Long story short, I helped her make the right decisions regarding how many person(s) she needed to hire right now and where to recruit.
Plus, an implementation guide of 7 steps.
No assumptions.
Clear steps.
To take.
Do you need something like this?
Reply or DM, '7 STEPS', and I'll send you a list of the 7 steps I gave Jessica to help her hire the right staff to handle sales for her.
And if you're more adventurous, I'd set up a consultation call to guide you in taking these 7 steps.
Cheers
