NCC Introduces Unified Codes for all Networks
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) recently announced new codes for all networks in Nigeria. These codes will be used for various purposes, such as call center, SIM registration, and checking of account balance. In this blog post, we will explore the new codes and what they mean for Nigerian mobile phone users.
Firstly, it is important to note that the do-not-disturb code remains unchanged. The code, 2442, is used to activate the Do-Not-Disturb service, which helps to reduce the number of unsolicited SMS and telemarketing calls that customers receive. Customers can send "STOP" to 2442 to stop receiving such messages.
The new code, 996, is for SIM registration and NIN-SIM linkage. The Nigerian government mandated that all SIM cards must be linked with the National Identification Number (NIN) to curb criminal activities in the country. To link your NIN with your SIM card, simply send "NIN (space) NIN number (space) First name (space) Last name" to 996. For example, if your NIN number is 12345678901, and your name is John Doe, you would send "NIN 12345678901 John Doe" to 996.
The call center code is 300, which can be used to contact your network's customer service center. If you are experiencing any problems with your mobile phone, such as a network outage or billing issues, you can call 300 to speak to a customer service representative.
For those in need of borrowing airtime or data, the new code is *303 #. Dialing *303 # will show you the various borrowing options available to you, such as the amount of airtime or data you can borrow, and the terms and conditions attached to the borrowing. You can then select the option that suits you and follow the prompts.
If you want to stop a service that you are currently subscribed to, the new code is *305 #. This code can be used to unsubscribe from various services, such as caller tunes, data bundles, and other value-added services that you may have subscribed to.
Finally, to check your account balance, the new code is *310 #. Dialing *310 # will display your current account balance, as well as any other relevant information such as your data balance and the expiry date of your airtime or data bundle.
In conclusion, the new NCC codes will make it easier for Nigerian mobile phone users to access various services, including SIM registration, borrowing airtime and data, and checking their account balance. With these new codes, customers can now access these services quickly and easily from their mobile phones.
