All indications show that now the way to remove indirect primary election is taken in Nigerian election laws, meaning there is no reason for delegate to vote for candidates except all members of the party or the head of the party.
There are three methods in Nigerian electoral laws that are allowed by parties to bring out their candidates, the methods are:
1. Direct primaries, that is directly every party has the right to vote for a candidate.
2nd time. 2nd time Indirect primaries, some of the representatives of the party will vote for the candidate (delegates).
3.\n Consensus, internal agreement between party and its candidates.
If the new law is signed, indirect primaries will be removed, meaning no delegates, direct primaries and consensus will be left.
Direct primaries is that every party member has the right to vote for who he wants to contest for, you don't have to be part of stakeholders, you don'T have to be partial exco or official of the party.
This system will help to reduce the power of the Ubangida politics, that is the most popular among the people of the party will contest even if there is no big man standing for him.
The system will reduce the amount of money in local elections (primaries), if a candidate can afford 100 delegates will suffer to afford 10,000 delegates to vote in primary elections for the seat he is looking for.
Well, direct primaries are always responsible for crises and chaos during its time, sometimes with rigging to change the origin of those registered with the party. Even though parties are forced to register their members online.
The consensus system will also help the political party to oppress whoever they want, including contesting for who dismiss the party's parents. Unless the party says it will do so then it will cause domestic violence which will cause mass disintegration.
Well, but what some people would like to know is:
1. Who are they able to trust the process of voting in local elections (primaries)? Will there be direct primaries or consensus?
2nd time. 2nd time If consensus is to be held who will vote?
