Dankwambo and His Usual Ineffective Leadership
By Muhammad Bello Bala
When I announced my defection from the PDP in the previous weeks, many people were surprised by my decision and asked why I suddenly defected. Most of those who called and asked received a brief response from me: "Having lost confidence in the leadership of the party, I decided to leave honourably." This was my response to all. Today, I will share a single reason for my defection, and maybe over time, I'll share the rest with you.
In our polling unit, Dadakumbo, Dawaki Quarters, everyone knows that my senior brother, Ahmed Bala, and I have been handling the affairs of the polling unit for the PDP. We've never lost the polling unit to any party, and whether you like it or not, you must give us credit for that. However, despite our efforts, the party leadership never appreciated us, not even once.
My brother is more tolerant and patient than I am. My short fuse wouldn't allow me to continue tolerating such treatment. Politics is about personal interest, and since mine is no longer respected, why would I stay where I'm not valued? You've all witnessed my online and offline contributions, but was I valued? No. So, I left the party and will soon announce my new party, which I believe is different from the PDP.
The PDP and its leadership seem unwilling to change from their ineffective ways. The recent fertilizer distribution by Senator Dankwambo speaks volumes. Even the type of fertilizer being distributed is shameful, not to mention the number of bags. As expected, I reached out to PDP members in my polling unit to see if they received the fertilizer, since they seemed upset when I left the party. I'm not surprised by their response, not a single member received any fertilizer. I told them they wouldn't change, and they agreed.
Hence, I will try my best to convince them to join me in my new party, where we will have more appreciative and effective leadership.
It's time for the Senator to oversee people's affairs himself if he cares to return elected rather than assigning people with questionable honesty to handle them.
