The five sons of Tangale land from Billiri Local Government Area who offered themselves for service in the ongoing political process for the House of Representatives seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress wish to address party members, supporters, and the general public following the conclusion of the consensus process.
While none of us was announced as the consensus candidate, we consider it necessary to place on record our appreciation to His Excellency, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, for the sense of responsibility demonstrated throughout the process.
We acknowledge that His Excellency created room for democratic participation and remained disposed to party members who may wish to explore other constitutional options as provided under the Electoral Act 2026, particularly the option of direct primaries.
Following extensive consultations and engagements among ourselves and with critical stakeholders, we hereby resolve as follows:
1. We wholeheartedly congratulate our partyโs gubernatorial flag bearer, Jamilu Ishiaku Gwamna, on his emergence, alongside all other candidates who have emerged at various levels.
2. One among us, Hon. Alfred John Attari, having exercised his constitutional and democratic right through the purchase of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, shall participate in the direct primary election exercise. This decision to participate in the direct primary election reflects the collective concern arising from the absence of Billiri Local Government Area in the consensus arrangement, and we, the remaining aspirants, fully support his democratic right while standing with him in unity and good faith.
3. We reaffirm our total commitment and loyalty to the All Progressives Congress and shall collectively work for the success and victory of the party in the 2027 general elections.
4. We remain firm believers in justice, fairness, equity, and internal democracy, and we shall continue to pursue inclusive representation and equal political participation for our people through peaceful and democratic means.
At this critical moment, we call on our supporters, especially the youths of Tangale land and Billiri Local Government, to remain calm, law-abiding, and focused. Politics must never divide brothers who share a common heritage and destiny.
History will always remember those who chose unity over bitterness, maturity over provocation, and peace over conflict.
Together, we remain stronger.
