REWARD SYSTEM part 1
On Sunday, 24th February, as we were walking back from church, we suddenly noticed something beautiful. Our little girl, Sarayu, was greeting the uncles and aunties we met along the way.
What made it special was that earlier that same morning, we had noticed her struggle a little to greet some new uncles whose faces she was not familiar with. We were visiting that church for the first time, so many faces were new to her.
But on our way back, she tried again — and this time she greeted them confidently.
Right there, we paused our walk, sat down together, and took a moment to reward that good character.(I will tell you what the reward was later )
Over time, we have become very aware of the importance of rewarding good behavior in our home. Sometimes we do it very well, and sometimes we forget. In 2025 we were quite intentional about rewarding good behavior, but toward the later part of the year we began to slip and forget.
Just a few days earlier, my husband and I had attended a parenting Bible study with Uncle John Mahon. During the study, we were reminded again about the importance of a reward system in the home. After the session, we discussed it again together and decided to intentionally pick it up again — rewarding good character when we see it.
So this little moment on the roadside became a simple but meaningful parenting moment for our family.
Sometimes discipleship in the home looks like pausing your walk, noticing growth, and celebrating it.
