Breaking: Taraba Govt to sack street sweepers without APC membership card.

The Taraba State government has vowed to sack members of the operation keep Taraba clean (street sweepers) who fail to obtain APC membership card in the ongoing APC e-registration exercise.

Hon. Iliya Kefas, chairman, environmental and sanitation agency who disclosed this during a chat with journalists in Jalingo on Tuesday said members of the operation keep Taraba clean must identify fully with Governor Kefas ideology.

TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI DISRUPT ILLICIT DRUG SUPPLY NETWORK IN NORTH EAST

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have recorded a major success in disrupting terrorist logistics and criminal support networks in the region.

A statement signed by the Media Information Officer Headquarters, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba says acting on credible intelligence on 23 January 2026, troops arrested a 65-year-old suspected drug dealer, Hauwa Abulazeez, in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

She is alleged to be a key supplier of cannabis sativa to Boko Haram elements operating in Askira Uba, Rumirgo, Gwahi, Wamdiyo, Uvu and Gaya communities.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect sourced the illicit drugs from Sarti Baruwa Local Government Area of Taraba State and transported them through established supply routes for distribution across several communities in the theatre of operations.

During the operation, troops recovered 14 compressed blocks of cannabis sativa, weighing about 30 kilograms.

The suspect is currently in custody undergoing investigation, while follow-up operations are ongoing to identify and dismantle the wider trafficking network.

The military says the operation highlights ongoing efforts to deny terrorists and criminal groups access to illicit supply chains that fuel violence and insecurity in the North East.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustained, intelligence-driven operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability in the region.
