Gombe FA Chairman Honored at Big-League Soccer Cup Final in Kaltungo

The Chairman of the Gombe State Football Association (FA), Mr Philibus Yakubu Sarma, has been recognized for his contributions to football development in the local government. The award was presented to him by the organizers of the Big-League Soccer Cup Competition during the final match held in Kaltungo.

Mr Sarma received the award at the final, where All Stars FC triumphed over Mairana FC in a penalty shootout, securing a 3-1 victory after a goalless draw in regular time. The match was a thrilling end to the competition, showcasing the talents of local footballers.

In his speech, Mr. Sarma expressed gratitude for the recognition, reiterating his commitment to nurturing and promoting grassroots football in the state.

In addition to the award, the competition's closing ceremony saw donations from prominent figures. The Chairman of Kaltungo Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Iliya Suleiman, provided all the items presented to the teams after the final match, excluding the trophy, which was a special donation by the FA Chairman himself.

Furthermore, Hon. Fatima Binta Bello, the Chairperson of Shongom LGA, contributed two hundred thousand naira for the winning team, All Stars FC, and one hundred thousand naira for the runner-up, Mairana FC.

Recalling Yakubu Sylvanus's (Mamaki) participation in two Sports Festivals for Team Gombe. Edo2020 which was held in 2021 due to Covid19 lockdown where he helped Team Gombe clinched Gold Medal and then his final assignment for Team Gombe at the 2022 National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta State. Team Gombe returned with a Bronze Medal in Basketball event.
