ZAMFARA STATE GOVERNMENT APPROVES ₦3.306 BILLION FOR THE REHABILITATION AND REMODELING OF THE COLLEGE OF NURSING SCIENCES, ZURMI
In line with its unwavering commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector and expanding access to quality medical education, the Zamfara State Government, under the visionary leadership of the Rescue Commander, His Excellency, Governor Dauda Lawal, has approved the award of contracts for the rehabilitation and remodeling of the take-off structures for the College of Nursing Sciences, Zurmi.
The approval was granted by the Zamfara State Executive Council following the presentation of a memorandum by the Honourable Commissioner for Health. The project is aimed at providing modern teaching, learning, and administrative facilities that will enable the institution to commence full academic activities in a conducive environment.
To ensure efficient ex*****on, the project has been divided into two lots. Lot One, awarded to MG Nigeria Limited, covers part of the rehabilitation and remodeling works at a contract sum of ₦1,821,875,918.00, while Lot Two, awarded to Royal Stone Global Investment Nigeria Limited, covers the remaining rehabilitation works at a contract sum of ₦1,484,501,620.00.
The combined contract value for both projects stands at ₦3,306,377,538.00. Notably, the approved contract sums are below the estimates vetted by the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), reflecting the administration's commitment to transparency, accountability, value for money, and prudent management of public resources.
The rehabilitation and remodeling of the College of Nursing Sciences, Zurmi, will significantly enhance the institution's capacity to train qualified nurses and other healthcare professionals who will contribute meaningfully to improving healthcare service delivery across Zamfara State and beyond.
This landmark investment is in line with Governor Dauda Lawal's Rescue Mission Agenda, which prioritizes the revitalization of critical sectors, particularly education and healthcare. Since assuming office, the administration has consistently implemented strategic projects aimed at rebuilding public institutions, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the well-being of the people.
The government believes that investing in health education is a sustainable solution to addressing the shortage of skilled healthcare professionals while strengthening the state's healthcare system. Upon completion, the remodeled facilities will provide students and staff with a modern, safe, and conducive learning environment that meets contemporary standards.
The Zamfara State Government assures the public that all contractors handling the project will be closely monitored to ensure strict compliance with contractual specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. Relevant ministries, departments, and agencies have been directed to provide effective supervision throughout the implementation process.
Governor Dauda Lawal reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to executing people-centred projects that will improve the quality of life of citizens and accelerate the socio-economic development of Zamfara State.
