ZAMFARA GRAND KHADI DAHIRU WARNS JUDGES AGAINST PROLONGING JUDGEMENT.

The Grand Khadi, Zamfara state, Alhaji Dahiru Muhammad Gusau has warned Shari'ah Court Judges in the state against prolonging judgements.

The Grand Khadi gave the warning while declaring open a two day Seminar organized for Shari'ah Court judges in the State.

Alhaji Dahiru Gusau who underscored importance of training and retraining for judges assured that such seminar would continue to be organized.

He emphasized the need for judges to dispense judgement with out delay as justice delayed is justice denied.

Also speaking, Dr, Saminu stressed the need for judges to be cautious in inheritance distribution according to Islamic Sharia.

Dr, Saminu commended the Kadimul Shari'a, Dahiru Muhammad, for organizing the Seminar, describing it as a welcomed development to Shari'ah Court judges in Zamfara state.

In a remark, Khadi Usman Hasan Gummi, reminded Shari'ah Court judges about criminal cases considering their complications.

He said it was necessary for a Shari'ah Court Judge to always adhere strictly to Islamic guidelines while exercising judgement.

ZMSG DISTRIBUTS 700 CLEAN COOKING STOVES TO DISCOURAGE DEFORESTATION. H

Zamfara State Government has flagged off distribution of 700 units of modern, fuel-efficient clean cooking stoves to households across the 14 local government areas of the state.

Deputy Governor of the state, Mani Malam Mummuni (Masamar Mudi) performed the ceremony yesterday at Dr. Garba Nadama Hall, J.B. Yakubu Secretariat Complex, Gusau, on behalf of Governor Dauda Lawal.

Speaking at the event organized by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the Deputy Governor said the intervention was timely, practical and in line with the state government’s commitment to environmental conservation, public health and climate action.

He noted that, rural communities in Zamfara depend heavily on firewood for cooking, a practice that has led to widespread tree felling, loss of green cover, and exposure of women and children to indoor air pollution and respiratory diseases.

“The provision of these clean cooking stoves is a high-impact intervention. It will reduce the amount of firewood used daily, slow deforestation, lower household spending on kerosene, and free up time for education and income-generating activities,” Malam mani said.

He added that, the stoves would also cut emissions from inefficient combustion and support the state’s climate action goals.

The Deputy Governor revealed that, the 700 stoves will be distributed transparently to beneficiaries across all the 147 wards in the state. He directed the Ministry of Environment to work with Local Government Chairmen, traditional rulers, women and youth groups to ensure that the items reached the targeted households.

He urged beneficiaries to adopt the new stoves and ensure proper use and maintenance, while also calling on development partners and the private sector to support more initiatives that combine environmental protection with livelihood and health benefits.

The event was attended by the Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Alhaji Bilyaminu Isma’ila Moriki, Head of Service, Malam Yahaya Sani, Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Abdulrahman Tumbido, Commissioners, Traditional Rulers, and a representative of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Dr. Zannal.

POLICE RESCUE 4 KIDNAPPED VICTIMS ON MAFARA-ANKA ROAD IN ZAMFARA.

Zamfara State Police Command has rescued 4 Kidnapped Persons along the Talata Mafara -Anka Road.
Police Public Relations Officer, Zamfara State Police Command, DSP Yazid Abubakar revealed this in a press statement.
He said the success was recorded last Monday by the command's Violence Crimes Response Unit VCRU following distress call that heavily armed bandits had blocked the Mafara -Anka Road and abducted 4 travellers.
Yazid further said, the VCRU had responded swiftly and on arrival at the scene of the incident engaged the bandits in a fierced gun fight.
According to him, the men of the under world have subsequent fled to the nearby forest with suspected gun shot wounds leaving their captives.
The Commissioner of Police Zamfara State, CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello has restated his command's resolve of remaining firm by its commitment of fighting criminals across the state and called on members of the general public to assist security agents with relevant information at the right time to enable them operate effectively.

ZAMFARA DEPUTY GOV. HOSTS ZAMFARA STATE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION AND THE FORUM OF WOMEN COUNCILLORS

Zamfara State Deputy Governor, Mani Malam Mummuni Masamar Mudi has received leadership of the Zamfara State Civil Service Commission and the Forum of Women Councillors of Zamfara State who separately called on him at his office.

The Zamfara State Civil Service Commission, delegation led by its chairman, Alhaji Tukur Muhammad ES accompanied by the Permanent Commissioners of the Commission, held a fruitful discussion with the Deputy Governor on matters relating to the development, efficiency, and continuous transformation of the State Civil Service. The meeting also focused on strengthening institutional capacity and promoting effective public service delivery across the state.

In the same vein, the Forum of Women Councillors of Zamfara State, under the leadership of Hajiya Hadiza Shehu Shinkafi, Councillor Representing Shinkafi South Ward, discussed issues affecting women in local government administration, the role of female councillors in grassroots governance, and strategies for enhancing women's participation in leadership and community development across the state State.

The Deputy Governor, commended both delegations for their commitment to the growth and development of the state. He reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the administration of Dr. Dauda Lawal to strengthening public institutions, promoting inclusive governance, and supporting initiatives that advance sustainable development and improve service delivery for the people of Zamfara State.

GOV. IDRIS MOURNS DEATH OF FORMER DEP. GOV., KEBBI STATE

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has expressed profound grief over the death of former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Ibrahim K. Aliyu, describing his death as a momental loss and to the Yauri Emirate, Kebbi State, and Nigeria as a whole.

On behalf of the Government and the good people of Kebbi State, Governor Idris extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the late elder statesman, the people of Yauri Emirate, his friends, associates, and all those affected by his demise.

The Governor said the death of Alhaji Ibrahim K. Aliyu, who reportedly passed away in Sokoto after a prolonged illness, has deprived Kebbi State of one of its most respected and distinguished leaders, whose life was dedicated to selfless service, honesty, and the progress of society.

Comrade Nasir Idris described late Ibrahim K. Aliyu as a pious, humble, and patriotic leader who served Kebbi State diligently, first as a seasoned civil servant and later as Deputy Governor, leaving behind an enduring legacy of integrity, commitment, and exemplary public service.

“The demise of Alhaji Ibrahim K. Aliyu is deeply painful. Kebbi State has lost a respected elder statesman, a man of wisdom, honour, and uncommon humility" said the Governor.

Comrade Nasir adds that: “His invaluable contributions to the development of our state and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of our people will continue to inspire generations".

The Governor also says: “His legacy will forever be remembered and honoured, not only for his remarkable achievements in politics but also for his distinguished career in the civil service, where his professionalism and dedication earned him the respect and admiration of all.”

He prayed Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, the Yauri Emirate, and the entire people of Kebbi State the strength and fortitude to bear this painful and irreparable loss.

FIRST LADY, ZAMFARA STATE DISBURSES N5.5 MILLION TO 160 VULNERABLE WOMEN

Wife of Zamfara State Governor, and First Lady, Zamfara State, Hajia Huriyya Dauda Lawal has disbursed N5.5 million to 160 vulnerable and less privileged women to support establishment and expansion of their businesses and strengthen their means of livelihood under the Economic Empowerment Programme for Internally Displaced and Less Privileged Women.

Speaking during flag-off ceremony of the programme at the Government House, Gusau, the First Lady, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant on Women Mobilization, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar (Mai H.), said the programme was designed to support 160 selected vulnerable and less privileged women from Wonaka, Wanke, and Ruwan Bore wards of Gusau Local Government Area.

She explained that 60 beneficiaries would receive N50,000 each, while 100 beneficiaries would receive N25,000 each.

Hajiya Huriyya noted that the administration of her husband, Dr. Dauda Lawal, places strong emphasis on women's economic empowerment and self-reliance.

She highlighted recent initiatives implemented through the Office of the First Lady, which have empowered thousands of women with business grants and cash transfers ranging from N50,000 to N150,000 to support small-scale enterprises such as poultry farming, tailoring, and petty trading.

The First Lady added that; additional initiatives by the Office of Nigeria's First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, implemented in collaboration with the Office of the Zamfara State First Lady, have further strengthened women's economic participation across the state.

Hajia Huriyya also said that hundreds of vulnerable women, including orphans and other less privileged persons, have benefited from marriage support programmes facilitated by the Office of the First Lady in partnership with the Zamfara State Zakat and Endowment Board.

Hajiya Huriyya explained that the Economic Empowerment Programme for Internally Displaced and Less Privileged Women is being implemented under the theme: "Finding Joy Among Vulnerable and Less Privileged Women." She said the social investment initiative reflects the government's commitment to ensuring that vulnerable women live with dignity, hope, and the assurance that they are cared for.
The First Lady, Zamfara State urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support provided, remain hopeful, and find joy through community, compassion, and mutual care, adding that living with dignity is not only about longevity but also about being surrounded by love, support, and respect.

The death has occurred of Malan Lawali Salisu Kwatarkwashi in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Aged 60, Malan Lawali Salisu, died at his residence in Kwatarkwashi after a Prolonged illiness, He is survived by a wife, and seven Children.
Among his children are: Ibrahim Lawali S/Yaki, a Staff of The Legacy Weekly Newspaper, Zahara Lawali, Ukasha Lawali, Jabir Lawali, Ziya'ul'Haq Lawali, Nasir Lawali, and Zainab Lawali.

Funeral prayer of the deceased was lead by Malan Nasiru Na Baba

TWO WEEK TRAINING FOR ZAROTA PERSONNEL OPENS IN GUSAU

The Zamfara State Ministry of Works in collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Zamfara State Command, has organized a Two Week Capacity Building Training for personnel of Zamfara Road Traffic Agency ZAROTA to enhance their operational efficiency in traffic enforcement in Zamfara State.

In a welcome address, during the opening ceremony of the training, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Zamfara State Command, Aliyu Ma'aji, urged ZAROTA personnel to be attentive to all lectures and instructions. He charged them to be of good character, disciplined, and ensure excellent public relations with road users.

In a remark, Commandant of ZAROTA, Commandant Muhammad Bello Musa, Ataka Gusau, commended Zamfara State Government for organizing the training for his men noting that the training would enhance their competence. He urged the ZAROTA personnel selected for the training to be trustworthy, and diligent in the discharge of their duties.

Also speaking, the Chairman of ZAROTA Governing Board, represented by director Sanusi Maharazu Badarawa, urged ZAROTA personnel to be law-abiding, adding that the training would further sanitize and professionalize the trainees for better service delivery.

In a goodwill message, the representative of Emir of Gusau, sarkin Katsina of Gusau, Alh. Abdulkadir Ibrahim, advised the trainees to be good ambassadors of the Agency.

In their separate remarks, representatives of other security agencies including the Police, DSS, and Civil Defense conveyed messages of goodwill from their agencies and called on ZAROTA personnel to exhibit the fear of God in their duties and foster better collaboration between ZAROTA and other sister agencies.

Declaring the training opened, Commissioner for Works, and infrastructure, Zamfara State, Alh. Lawal Barau Bungudu, represented by the Director of Civil Engineering, Engr. Amirul Musa, expressed satisfaction with the structure of the training.

The Commissioner called on security agencies - the Police, DSS, Civil Defense, FRSC, and others - to support ZAROTA in any way possible to enable it operate effectively.

He reaffirmed his commitment to providing ZAROTA with all the necessary support as long as due process is followed. He called on security agencies in the state to always support and cooperation with ZAROTA personnel whom he urged to be obedient and loyal to their leadership.
A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of ZAROTA, Mallam Saleh Kwaren Shinkai indicates that the occasion was attended by the ZAROTA Secretary Aminu Tukur, Director of Operation Usman Muhammad Moriki, Director Training and Recruitment Ladan Sani, Director Finance Umar Garba Gusau and host of others.

ZAMFARA GOV'T REINSTATES ABDU GUSAU POLYTECHNIC RECTOR

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the reinstatement of Dr. Surajo Abdullahi Shinkafi as Rector of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara, with immediate effect.

A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary Cabinet Affairs Abubakar Muhammad for Secretary to Zamfara State Government indicates that the reinstatement of the Rector followed a careful review of the circumstances that led to his suspension.

The reinstated Rector was directed to report to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and resume responsibilities as the substantive Rector of the Polytechnic
