Rob Reiner, the celebrated actor, director and producer whose work shaped American television and cinema for decades, has died at 78, according to Variety and TMZ. His death, alongside that of his wife, Michele Singer, 68, is under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department after the couple was found in their home in Brentwood.

Reiner, born March 6, 1947, in the Bronx, New York, grew up in the entertainment business − his father was comedy legend Carl Reiner and his mother, Estelle, was an actress. He became famous in his own right for his portrayal of Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the groundbreaking sitcom "All in the Family," winning two Emmy Awards as Archie Bunker’s son-in-law.

Though he had dozens of acting credits to his name, he transitioned to directing and created beloved films including "This Is Spinal Tap," "Stand by Me," "The Princess Bride," "Misery," "A Few Good Men" and "When Harry Met Sally ..." He cast his mother as an extra in the rom-com classic for a scene at a New York deli where Meg Ryan faked an or**sm.

"First couple of times, she didn't do it full out," Reiner said of directing Ryan in the scene. "Finally, I sat across from Billy (Crystal). And I acted it for her. … And I'm pounding the table, 'Yes! Yes! Yes!' And I'm realizing I'm having an or**sm in front of my mother, you know? There's my mother over there." His mother's line – "I'll have what she's having" – became one of the most famous lines in film.

Similarly, his mockumentary "This Is Spinal Tap" was a part of the cultural landscape (and earned a spot in the Library of Congress' National Film Registry), with memorable songs like "Gimme Some Money."

Reiner, with his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, in Los Angeles on March 22, 2025.
Reiner admitted that was the very reason "Spinal Tap II: The End Continues" came to be: "We never got any money from the first movie, really," Reiner said in an interview with USA TODAY earlier this year about his three stars, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer. "Lots of people had the rights, and the four us had 10% each, and while it's going to sound crazy, we only got like 82 cents apiece over the years, despite all the DVD and foreign sales. Call it creative accounting on steroids. So Harry said, 'I'm going to sue to get the rights back,' and though it took him years, he got it done."

The sequel was largely improvised. "The fun thing for me was falling back with old friends," he said. "You just start doing your thing with each other, Chris used to call it 'schneedeling,' and right away, we were schneedeling as if no time has gone by. You can't beat that."
Reiner was a progessive and outspoken voice in the Hollywood community, supporting issues including marriage equality and gun control. He was a vocal critic of President Donald Trump and advocated for social and political change. In 2006, his name was floated as a possible candidate for governor of California, but he decided not to run.

Rob Reiner was married to actress and director Penny Marshall from 1971 to 1981. During their marriage, Reiner adopted Marshall’s daughter, Tracy, who later became an actress.

In 1989, Reiner married Michele Singer, a photographer. Together they shared three children: Nick, Jake and Romy.

Reiner often credited Michele with inspiring the happy ending of "When Harry Met Sally ...," which he was filming when they met.

King Charles III cancer update: Read his full statement to the public.

King Charles III used social media on Friday, Dec. 12, to deliver an update on his cancer treatment.

The British monarch, 77, said on Dec. 12, his "schedule of cancer treatment" could be reduced in 2026 in a video message shared on Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube. King Charles had been getting treatment after being diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer, which was detected in tests after a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate, Buckingham Palace said in February 2024.

Charles was hospitalized for a short time in March 2025 for side effects from his cancer treatment, which he had continued receiving while also returning to public duties in April 2024, according to Buckingham Palace.

Princess Kate, who was diagnosed with cancer one month after King Charles, announced she was cancer-free in January 2025 and recently gave her first public speech.

Read King Charles III's full statement about his cancer treatment update
"Throughout my own cancer journey, I've been profoundly moved by what I can only call the community of care that surrounds every cancer patient, the specialists, the nurses, researchers and volunteers who work tirelessly to save and improve lives. But I have also learned something that troubles me deeply. At least nine million people in our country are not up to date with the cancer screenings available to them. That is at least nine million opportunities for early diagnosis being missed. Early diagnosis, quite simply, saves lives. Now I have heard this message repeatedly during my visits to cancer centers across the country. I know too what a difference it has made in my own case, enabling me to continue leading a full and active life, even while undergoing treatment. Indeed, today, I am able to share with you the good news that thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to doctors' orders, my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the new year. This milestone is both a personal blessing and a testimony to the remarkable advances that have been made in cancer care in recent years."

The king released his video announcement on Friday, Dec. 12, as part of Stand Up to Cancer 2025, and its weeklong campaign to increase awareness about early diagnosis, according to Buckingham Palace.

During the online message, Charles also touted a new online National Screening checker, a "simple tool (that) allows you to check whether you are eligible for breast, bowel or cervical cancer screening. It demystifies the process, answers your questions and guides you towards taking that crucial step."

In a longer version of the video message found on the Buckingham Palace website and on YouTube, the king asked viewers to find "a special place" in their hearts for "the hundreds of thousands of people across our United Kingdom who receive a cancer diagnosis each year, and for the millions more who love and care for them."

I know from my own experience that a cancer diagnosis can feel overwhelming, yet I also know that early detection is the key that can transform treatment journeys, giving invaluable time to medical teams and to their patients, the precious gift of hope," the king said.

During his "cancer journey," the king went on to say, "I've been profoundly moved by what I can only call the community of care that surrounds every cancer patient, the specialists, the nurses, researchers and volunteers who work tirelessly to save and improve lives."

His comments echo those he made in April 2025 during a reception of cancer support groups and charities. His treatment, Charles said at the time, "has certainly given me an even deeper appreciation of the extraordinary work undertaken by the remarkable organizations and individuals gathered here this evening, many of whom I have known, visited and supported over the years."

SNL' cold open skewers Trump over new Jeffrey Epstein photos

President Donald Trump was the man behind the curtain in the latest "Saturday Night Live" cold open.

The show kicked off its Dec. 13 episode with a sketch featuring James Austin Johnson as Trump holding a press conference aboard Air Force One.

Johnson's Trump, who partially hid behind a curtain and told reporters he "took both an Ambien and an Adderall," was asked about a new batch of photos from Jeffrey Epstein's estate released by House Democrats, which show high-profile figures including Trump and former President Bill Clinton.

"The fact is, these photos are a fake news, Democrat hoax," Johnson's Trump said. But White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt (played by Ashley Padilla) had to frantically step in after Trump changed his tune, saying the pictures are "100% legit" and admitted, "I'm in the files. I took a lot of great pictures!"

In the sketch, Johnson's Trump also commented on news that the United States recently seized an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela, with the president declaring, "We're doing pirate now!" After noting that he has been "targeting suspected drug planes," Trump showed reporters declassified footage of a drone strike on Santa Claus.

The cold open also featured Johnson's Trump insisting that the economy is doing fine for everyone "from the billionaires all the way down to the poor, poor millionaires," while maintaining he inherited a "mess of an economy from the awful presidents that came before me, like Biden and Trump."

Throughout the process, Ngxoli continued to breastfeed her baby, , a detail she shared with fans on social media. “Whilst breastfeeding my darling ,” she wrote, emphasizing that motherhood remained a central part of her daily routine.

Nigerian Music Stars Shine at Entertainment Week Africa Panel Discussion.

A panel of influential female Nigerian artists gathered at Eko Hotel on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, to share their experiences and insights on being women in the music industry. The discussion, themed “The Price of Being Her… Power and the Cost of Visibility in Music,” was moderated by Tiwa Savage and featured Yemi Alade, Sasha P, Qing Madi, Teni, and Waje.

During the panel, Yemi Alade emphasized the importance of authenticity and forging one’s own path in the industry. “It’s very important to be authentic,” she said. “It dawned on me that it was important for me to create my own doors. Where the doors were closed in my face, I broke down the walls. Where the walls were too strong, I created a window for myself.”

Alade also praised Tiwa Savage for her resilience and impact on female artists across Africa. “I honestly want you to know that those moments when you rugged it and do what you truly want to do, you are standing up for many females,” she said.

The panel discussion highlighted the challenges women face in the music industry and the importance of supporting one another. The event was a powerful celebration of female empowerment and music.

Sean “Diddy” Combs Calls Netflix Docuseries “The Reckoning” a “Shameful Hit Piece” and “Illegal.

Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has fired back at Netflix after the streaming giant announced a four‑part documentary about his life,

slated to debut on December 2, 2025. Combs, who is currently serving a 50‑month federal prison sentence for trafficking and racketeering convictions, released a statement through a spokesperson describing the series as a “shameful hit piece” and alleging that Netflix used “stolen and unauthorized footage”

The spokesperson says Combs has been filming his own story since his teenage years with the intention of telling it on his own terms. They claim Netflix “misappropriated” material, including private recordings and pre‑indictment clips that were never meant for public release. The production team, however, maintains that all footage was obtained legally and that they hold full rights to the content

Adding fuel to the fire, rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson longtime rival of Combs—served as an executive producer on the project. Combs’ team called Netflix’s decision to involve Jackson “staggering,” accusing him of a personal vendetta

Netflix has not issued a detailed comment beyond the series trailer, which features the ominous voice‑over: “You can’t continue to keep hurting people and nothing ever happens.” The trailer promises previously unseen material, exclusive interviews, and an examination of Combs’ rise in the entertainment industry followed by his recent legal downfall .

The documentary, directed by Alexandria Stapleton, is set to premiere globally on Netflix on December 2, 2025, and will explore both the cultural impact of Combs’ empire and the controversies that led to his conviction. As the release date approaches, the dispute between Combs’ camp and Netflix continues to generate headlines, highlighting the intersection of celebrity, legal battles, and media narrative.

Adele makes bold acting debut in Tom Ford’s ‘Cry to Heaven’.

After taking a break from her singing career, Grammy Award-winning British singer Adele is ready to make her mark in acting.

According to online reports, the 37-year-old "Rolling in the Deep" hitmaker will star in the film "Cry to Heaven", an adaptation based on Anne Rice's famous 1982 novel.

Ever since she wrapped up her "Weekends with Adele" concert series in 2024, she has been out of the spotlight.

She announced that her intention to take "a big break" is to explore "other creative things just for a little while."

With her biggest album, "30”, released in 2021 and her concert series behind her, many fans are excited to see what she will bring to the big screen.

"Cry to Heaven", directed and written by renowned designer and filmmaker Tom Ford, is set in the artistic world of 18th-century Italy.

It tells the story of a Venetian noble whose life becomes intertwined with a castrated opera singer.

The movie features an all-star cast, including Thandi Newton, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth and Paul Bettany, making it one of Hollywood's most anticipated projects.

Filming is expected to start in mid-January in London and Rome, and the movie is set to release in the last quarter of 2026.

Ford is not new to the film scene. After a nine-year break from directing, he is making a grand return with his psychological thriller "Nocturnal Animals", which earned him two BAFTA nominations.

"I loved making the two films that I made. That was the most fun I've ever had in my entire life," said Ford in an online interview.

Ford sold his fashion brand to Estée Lauder for £2.4 billion (over R53bn) in 2022.

At the time, he said, "I will say goodbye to fashion to focus entirely on filmmaking for the next twenty years."

"Cry to Heaven" will be Ford’s third film following his debut, "A Single Man" in 2009, and "Nocturnal Animals" in 2016.
