The National Council Executive and Senate Arm of the Federation of Ibarapa Students Association (FIBSA) paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers of Nigeria, on Thursday, June 20th, 2024.
The delegation, led by the FIBSA President, congratulated the Speaker on his emergence as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of Nigeria and discussed critical issues affecting Ibarapa students. The meeting was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the association and the state government, as well as seeking support for the welfare and development of students in Ibarapa land.
Key demands included scholarship awards for less privileged students, extension of students' bursaries to other towns in Ibarapa, and a grant for the construction of the FIBSA National Secretariat. The association also sought the Speaker's support for initiatives aimed at improving education, youth empowerment, and community development in Ibarapa.
The FIBSA executives praised the Speaker's commitment to education and youth development, acknowledging his provision of bursaries to students in Ibarapa East. We urged him to extend his benevolence to other towns in Ibarapa, ensuring equal opportunities for all students.
The Speaker, in his response, commended FIBSA for their proactive approach and assured them of his continued support. He pledged to consider our demands and work towards addressing the challenges faced by Ibarapa students.
The visit highlights the association's efforts to engage with stakeholders and improve the welfare of students in Ibarapa land. FIBSA reaffirmed its dedication to advocating for students' rights and promoting academic excellence, youth empowerment, and community development in Ibarapa.
