Nigerian Troops Stop Terror Attack, Arrest Suspects, Rescue Kidnap Victims
In a major security breakthrough, troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have thwarted a co-ordinated terrorist attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP militants in Gajibo. The attackers, mounted on motorcycles and armed with support weapons, were forced to withdraw in disarray after swift mortar and heavy firepower.
Elsewhere, two suspected collaborators (both cattle herders) were arrested in Gubio town, while a logistics supplier named Umar Ahmadu was detained in Gwoza following intelligence from a surrendered terrorist associate. In a separate development, a 17-year-old family member of a terrorist surrendered after escaping from an enclave in the Mandara Mountains, citing sustained military pressure and lack of basic necessities.
Troops also rescued two male kidnap victims who escaped captivity near Mafa town. No military casualties were reported.
The Joint Task Force reaffirms its commitment to defeating terrorism and restoring lasting peace and economic stability across the North East region.
