The first time we met Ms Aranla, we knew there was something about her, we just couldn't place our fingers on it.
She reached out to us after reading a book we edited for her friend.
The issue is she'd written a book but readers couldn't connect to the core of the message of her book. Her review page was filled with comments that are far from her expectation.
It was easy to tell that readers were deducing Z when all she was trying to drive at is A.
"Why can't they understand that I meant A?!" She lamented.
We went through the book and it wasn't the message itself that was faulty. It was the delivery - the choice of words, the flow of the content, etc.
So, we asked her about the editing of the book because those are issues professional editing should fix.
"Editing? Well, I published on a really tight budget, so I couldn't pay for professional editing. A friend went through the book for me." She responded.
"Really?! You paid for cover design, the layout design, ISBN, printing, digital publishing on platforms like Amazon but you didn't have a decent budget for editing, the only element that makes the rest worth it?" We couldn't hide our surprise.
Dear Author,
For the upteenth time, editing is beyond checking for typos and spelling errors. Good editing is the bridge between your message and your reader's perception. You need a decent budget to get your book edited.
Don't be like Ms. Aranla. Reach out to us today to get that manuscript polished before you send it out into the world.
