# Chief Nureni Adebayo Akanbi

Chief Nureni Adebayo Akanbi, born on May 3, 1944, is a respected traditional leader, elder statesman, and influential figure in Ibadanland, Nigeria. He is widely known for his leadership roles in cultural, religious, and political affairs, as well as his commitment to peace and community development.

# # Leadership and Traditional Titles

Chief Akanbi currently serves as a member of the Oyo State Governor’s Advisory Council, where he contributes to governance through guidance and experience.

He also holds several prestigious religious and hereditary titles:

# # # Baba Isale Musulumi of Ibadanland

In October 2023, Chief Akanbi was installed as the sixth holder of the title of Baba Isale Musulumi of Ibadanland. In this role, he serves as a key patron and leader within the Islamic community in Ibadan.

# # # Arole Iba Oluyole

As the head of the Iba Oluyole dynasty, Chief Akanbi is the hereditary custodian of the legacy of Iba Oluyole, the famous 19th-century warlord and the first Baale of Ibadan.

# # # Laguna Balogun of Ibadanland

In September 2024, he was elevated to the title of Laguna Balogun of Ibadanland, a prominent rank within the Balogun line—one of the two major succession paths to the Olubadan throne. Before this promotion, he held the title of Aare Egbe Omo Balogun.

# # # Mogaji of the Iba Oluyole Family

Chief Akanbi also serves as the Mogaji (family head) of the Iba Oluyole family, representing his ancestral lineage in the Ibadan Traditional Council.

# # Legacy and Influence

Chief Nureni Adebayo Akanbi is widely regarded as a father figure and respected political elder in Oyo State. He is often called upon to promote peace, offer counsel, and support the progress of the state through wise leadership and community service.
