For instance before u can regard something as mass media we must look at factors like
🔔 timeliness
📍 range at which it covers the heterogeneous audience
📍easy access to information
📍reliability of information
Etc.
Left to me I will argue in the acceptance of the notion that social media should be regarded as mass media because it has overtime grown to be if not the most effective and efficient one of the most effective ways through which information are disseminated to the heterogeneous audience at a go.
Talk more of the fact that the bulk of the population are now with the help of cell phones switching away from radio and television sets to online information platform that is not only used as a medium of effective communication with immediate feedback but as a means of broadcasting both local and international news.
Hence I can conclude in the words of a scholar Marshall McLuhan that mobile devices through the aid of internet has now made the world a "global village".
So build on this argument and u will get your marks

Portable breath monitor quickly detects life threatening lung disease

Scientists have developed a portable breath analyzer that can accurately and rapidly detect acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The device promises to increase rates of survival and reduce healthcare costs for people with the potentially life threatening lung condition.
The team describes the development and testing of the compact new technology — which is roughly the size of a shoebox — in a paper that features in the journal Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry.

Timely diagnosis and tracking of ARDS are very challenging because the condition can alter and progress rapidly and has several possible causes.

"The most commonly used ARDS prediction tools are only correct about 18% of the time," says co-senior study author Xudong Fan, a professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor.

In contrast, he and his colleagues showed that the fully automated portable breath analyzer can diagnose ARDS with an accuracy verging on 90% in around 30 minutes.

The researchers tested the technology on 48 volunteers who were receiving treatment at the University of Michigan hospital. Of the volunteers, 21 had ARDS and the others served as controls.

"We've found," Prof. Fan explains, "that if our device tells us the patient is positive for ARDS, it's highly likely that they're positive."

Ekiti varsity students protest alleged EFCC invasion of hostel

Students of the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday protested alleged harassment and arrest of four of them under the guise of being suspected to be involved in cybercrime, popularly called ‘yahoo’ by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

The students, who alleged that the EFCC operatives had been laying siege to them and arrested some of them at the school gate and in their hostel rooms, appealed to the EFCC acting chairman, Mr Ibrahim Magu, to order them to stop harassing innocent students.

The protesting students blocked the Ado – Ifaki Road for hours thus disrupting vehicular movement and preventing some lecturers from accessing the campus.

The Director of Welfare, EKSU Students’ Union Government, Temitope Aladejare, said that four of his colleagues were arrested on Wednesday, accusing the EFCC operatives of coming “to the hostel in front of the EKSU main gate and arrested four of our members.

“Two of the victims were even naked in their rooms when they pounced on them. When they came, they introduced themselves as operatives of the EFCC and forcibly bundled the victims into a van and took them to an unknown destination. We are calling on government authorities to call them to order”, he said EKSU Public Relations Officer, Mr Bode Olofinmuagun, said he was not on campus and that he didn’t have first-hand information about the arrest and the protest staged by the students.

But the spokesperson for the police in Ekiti State, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, said he would confirm that arrests were made which triggered the students to embark on a protest.

Being married doesn’t make me boring –Junior Pop
has a lot of female fans who want to get intimate with him. He said, “Many of them want to be intimate with me. I accept them half-way by bringing them close while still making them understand I’m not that type of guy. Because I’m married doesn’t mean I have to lock myself in the house and be boring. I have to live but I know my boundaries. If you ‘Google’ it, you’ll see the girl who tattooed my name on her b***s. She said that she wanted me badly but she couldn’t have me because I’m married. One must know one’s limit. Because I am a married man, you can’t have me. So, I let many of the girls know this. My wife is also a very understanding lady and God will bless her. God has blessed me with a very understanding wife who knows that women will come but her husband knows his limit.”

Pope also stated that he couldn’t afford to raise his children in Nigeria because of the perilous state of the country. He added, “The country is in a mess. If I start to tell you about Nigeria today, I won’t finish. I had hoped to raise my children in Nigeria, but I may have to leave this country. I have to go to someplace else that is better, with greener pastures and hope for the future generation. I’m considering countries such as Denmark, Canada, USA and even Norway. These are countries that have a laid down plan for the coming generations. Recently, a reverend father was reported to have been killed in Enugu State by suspected herdsmen. There is no safety anywhere and I’m losing hope, though I’m still a patriotic Nigerian. I love this country very much but at some point, one wouldn’t be able to help it anymore.”

James Rodriguez and Mariano Diaz, who are both expected to be sold, were also not included for the match in Austria.
