Here is the cover for my heartrending and hopeful picture book, What Happened on Thursday.

In this chilling story, I looked into the Nigerian Civil War through the eyes of a child. This war, like every other war, reminds us that children and women are the major casualties of every crisis. Hence, the need for leaders and stakeholders to always consider a peaceful resolution during moments of crisis.

This picture book is special to me in every way—the best I've written so far. Most importantly, the publishing team and the talented illustrator, Lydia Mba, did a great job with her graceful strokes and colours.

This book will be out in the United States in September 2024. You can start making preorders from major bookstores worldwide.

The LIBRETTO AFRICAN ANTHOLOGY PRIZE (LAAP) 2024 is in its second edition. This year, the focus is on children's literature.

Yours truly will be serving as one of the judges for the anthology.

Stories shouldn't exceed 2,500 words, and should be suitable for middle grade and young adult readers. Simply put, your entry should be suitable for children aged 8 — 14 (lower end YA).

Kindly submit your best stories, as I look forward to reading them.

The submission deadline is July 31, 2024.
