HOW THEY PLANNED TO EMBARRASS ME IN A COUNTRY || PASTOR WF KUMUYI
✓ this is not the kind of testimony to skip

Before I read my text to you, I want to now go to Russia. Russia now—in the capital Moscow, what had happened is the students there—the student body at the university there—they invited me to come and talk to them. But in order for them to process visa for me, they had to go to the Christian Pentecostal Union—that's how they call their own PFN there—the Pentecostal Union of Churches or the Christian Pentecostal Union to get a letter from them and sent to Nigeria to the embassy so that I'll be able to travel to Russia. And so I went there for the student body. Then the Christian Pentecostal Union—they called me and they said, "We were the people that made you to come because we gave letter for you to get visa. Won't you have one day crusade with us?" I said, that's all right. Just one day—that will be all right. And then I said, where will it be? They said, at the parliamentary building. Now you need to understand Russia—in that parliamentary building for 70 long years—that's where all the parliaments came together and they declared no God in Russia.

But thank God—how many of you know that when there was no God in Russia, there was God in Nigeria and God in Africa and God in Europe and God everywhere else? It’s a man that closes his eyes that he says he cannot see the sun. I am opening my eyes and I know the sun is there. They said there was no God—that's the parliamentary building they used. And then they said—I said, when are we going to have the crusade? They said, 10:00 in the morning. I said, why? Ah—they said, you're coming from Africa. We don't want to do anything in the night. We want you to be in the day so that we will see everything that is going on. I said, “No problem. That's all right.” And then we came to the parliamentary building, and the place was filled up. Thousands of people—thousands, thousands, thousands of people. And then they advertised and they said, “This is pastor so and so is coming from Africa. God is using him. The sick have been healed, blind eyes being opened, the lame—they're rising up and walking, miracles are taking place.”

Somebody wanted to prove us wrong—that God does not work miracles today, that there is no God doing anything like that. And he went to find somebody paralyzed—legs paralyzed, hands paralyzed—that could not move at all for 25 years. How many years did I say? Twenty-five. Twenty-five years. And then when all the people had gathered, then he puts that woman by the door so that as people are going out—when we say, “God is able, God is mighty, God is powerful”—then as everybody is going out they will see that woman paralyzed for 25 years. And then they will say, “Ah! But he said God can do all things—about this one?” And I didn’t know anything going on. I didn’t know anything anybody was trying on us. So I began to talk about Jesus. And then after the message about Jesus, I told them: if you want to have Jesus as your Savior, raise up your hand—and many, many people did.

And now I said, “It’s time to pray for the sick—and we’re going to pray. And whatever sickness, whatever infirmity, whatever deformity you have in your body, I’m going to pray for you now. The moment you hear the mention of the name of Jesus,” I said, “The miracle is there.” And then I prayed, and many people in the audience received miracles, and they were coming out and coming out. And then—remember the paralyzed woman there? How many years paralysis? How many? Twenty-five. As I mentioned the name of Jesus—and the people inside were receiving miracles—that woman at the gate, that woman at the door, the power of God came upon her, and the hands stretched out and the legs stretched out. And then she jumped up and she started walking up and down. I was on the stage—I was still encouraging the people—and somebody went there, took a photograph, and they made quite a big noise about it all over Moscow and in Russia.

And that’s the reason why I was also invited to Belarus. And then the Pentecostal Christian Union, Christian Union called me and said, “Now, you came for the students. You will come for us now again.” And they wanted me to say yes before I left. And I had no choice. I said, “Yes, I will come.” I came back and went now to start proceeding on—God works miracles. And everybody was very much expectant. I came for the first night, and that night I had my friend in America—Mr. Simon, he’s an historian concerning the Pentecostal church all over—and he was with me on the stage that very day. And I came on like this, and they introduced me. I was about to preach. And then—when I was coming into the auditorium that night—one of the ushers gave me the photograph and said, “When you came some months ago, this woman was paralyzed for 25 years, and then she got up and started walking. Here is the photograph.” He gave it to me.

So, to encourage the people—like I’m encouraging you now—I said, “Praise the Lord. When I came here a few months ago, there was one woman—she had been paralyzed for 25 years. Hands withered, legs withered, crawling on the ground like animal. But when I came and we were in this parliamentary building, this woman got healed, rose up—look at the photograph.” I didn’t know that the woman was in the audience. And so the woman rose up far away in the middle of the audience and started walking. And I didn't—because she wasn’t limping, everything was all right—she just walked like the queen of… of… of Russia, just walking like this and walking. I kept on talking. I was wondering, “How is it that I'm preaching and this woman is standing up and walking?” And then she walked towards the platform—and I was talking but I was wondering in my heart, “What kind of ushers are here in Moscow, that they didn’t stop this woman?” And then she climbed up the platform.

I was wondering. You—how many of you know that preachers must not show that they are afraid while they are preaching? So I acted as if I am bold. But with the corner of my eyes I was looking at her. I said, “Will not these ushers take this woman and not allow her to come to the stage?” And then she came near me. I said, “We’re in for it today.” All of a sudden, she took the microphone out of my hand. And then she began to talk. And she said, “I am the woman.” I said, “What?” And the people—they were wild with joy! That in this our day, **God is still at work.** I said, **in this our day, God is still at work.** And she gave the testimony how she was stayed in one place. Except somebody comes to carry her, she cannot go to toilet, she cannot go to the bathroom. Twenty-five years paralyzed—and now, she stood up.

Well, I don’t need to tell you—it’s because of that, eventually, Russia invited us to come and teach in their Bible schools because of God manifesting His power and mighty miracles. And **tonight is your night.** I said, **tonight is your night.**

‘I Have Decided to Follow Jesus’ is a Christian hymn originating from India. The lyrics are based on the last words of a man in Garo, Assam.
About 150 years ago, there was a great revival in Wales. As a result of this, many missionaries came to north-east India to spread the Gospel. The region known as Assam was comprised of hundreds of tribes who were primitive and aggressive head-hunters
Into these hostile and aggressive communities, came a group of missionaries from the American Baptist Missions spreading the message of love, peace and hope in Jesus Christ. Naturally, they were not welcomed. One missionary succeeded in converting a man, his wife, and two children. This man’s faith proved contagious and many villagers began to accept Christianity.

Angry, the village chief summoned all the villagers. He then called the family who had first converted to renounce their faith in public or face ex*****on. Moved by the Holy Spirit, the man said:
“I have decided to follow Jesus.”

Enraged at the refusal of the man, the chief ordered his archers to arrow down the two children. As both boys lay twitching on the floor, the chief asked, “Will you deny your faith? You have lost both your children. You will lose your wife too.”
But the man replied:
“Though no one joins me, still I will follow.”
The chief was beside himself with fury and ordered his wife to be arrowed down. In a moment she joined her two children in death. Now he asked for the last time, “I will give you one more opportunity to deny your faith and live.” In the face of death the man said the final memorable lines:
“The cross before me, the world behind me. No turning back.”
He was shot dead like the rest of his family. But with their deaths, a miracle took place. The chief who had ordered the killings was moved by the faith of the man. He wondered, “Why should this man, his wife and two children die for a Man who lived in a far-away land on another continent some 2,000 years ago? There must be some remarkable power behind the family’s faith, and I too want to taste that faith.”

In a spontaneous confession of faith, he declared, “I too belong to Jesus Christ!” When the crowd heard this from the mouth of their chief, the whole village accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
The song is based on the last words of Nokseng, a man from Garo tribe of Assam (now Meghalaya and some in Assam), India. It is today the song of the Garo people.

Further research into this song
The formation of these words into a hymn is attributed to the Indian missionary Sadhu Sundar Singh. The melody is also Indian and with the title “Assam” after the region where the text originated. An American hymn editor, William Jensen Reynolds, composed an arrangement that was included in the 1959 Assembly Songbook.

An alternative tradition attributes the hymn to Simon Marak, from Jorhat, Assam.
The hymn comes from the last words of the Garo martyr Nokseng as his family and then he himself died.
I have decided to follow Jesus (x3)
No turning back, no turning back.
Though no one joins me, still I will follow (x3)
No turning back, no turning back.
The cross before me, the world behind me (x3)
No turning back, no turning back.

WHAT MY WIFE DID BEFORE OUR MARRIAGE THAT SUSTAINED ME FOR 43 YEARS || REV ISAAC OMOLEHIN

In 1977, I had the worst crisis of my life up to that time when my life had no direction. One man met me on the street in Ilorin and asked me, "Where are you coming from?" I said, "From down there." He asked, "Where are you going?" I said, "Up there." I was going nowhere. Then he asked if I could be his houseboy, and I accepted because it was the best thing for me at that time. I was a houseboy for two years, from 1977 to 1979.

Unfortunately for me, I had met my wife before then, and we had agreed to marry. She continued her education while I dropped out of school. I was helping the wife of my master to fry puff-puff and sell them. My wife would come from UI on holidays and meet me where I was frying puff-puff.

I felt very sorry for her and even advised her to go and look for someone else to marry because I was hopeless. But she refused. And now, our marriage has lasted 43 years.

Only last year, she called me and said, "I want to tell you something that I would like you to hear." Then she said that some of my friends in Ilorin—those same friends who are still there—used to call her aside and tell her, "That person you say you want to marry, go and look for a human being."

My marriage had gone over 40 years before she felt that she could call me to tell me. She said the reason she hadn’t told me all along was that she didn’t want to spoil the relationship between me and those friends.

Today, in Ilorin, there is no such friend that I cannot employ and pay any salary that he can name—name your price.

For what happened over 43 years, that I now became "a person," everywhere I have gone, I have honored her. I have been everywhere in this world, preaching crusades in different continents, and I make sure I take her along and fly her in business class.

When I wanted to start preaching, I used my call as part of my proposal to her. When I was proposing marriage to her, I told her, "I am going to be an evangelist. Think about it and make up your mind whether you think you can marry an evangelist." So I had put it as part of the proposal from day one. And I have been an evangelist for 50 years.

When I was going to start that work as an evangelist for real, I had no Bible. Not that I didn’t have one at all, but the one I had had fallen into pieces. I had to gather the pages by hand because they would fall off due to overuse—some of them were even torn in half. That was my Bible. I would call out a passage, and when I got to that chapter, the leaf might be missing or cut in two.

One day, she looked at me and said, "You say you want to be an evangelist, but you don’t have a Bible." I said, "It’s not my fault." So she gave me her own. It was her Bible that I used to start my ministry.

And whenever I go to the mission field, I take her along. I have three sons—I take my three sons along. I don’t want to lose them to the other brand of Christianity they see on television.

They are young people, just coming out of school. They are on the internet, they know all the skills and trends. I don’t want to lose them. Christianity is not just the version of it you see in America or Europe.

When I do crusades in Tanzania, people trek 100 miles to come and hear the word of God—that is also Christianity.

The last time we were leaving Sephonga, I took their mother and myself, and all the money I had, I put into buying tickets for my three boys and their mother. I said, "Follow me."
