Mechanics were seen as “last option.”
Dirty work.
No respect.

But today, this same work feeds me, strengthens me, and gives me purpose.

Being a mechanic taught me discipline, problem-solving, and resilience.
It taught me that no honest work is small.

I chose this path — and I’m proud of it.

To every young girl who thinks engineering or technical work is not for her —
It is.

🔧 If anyone is interested in developing their skills in Brake and Suspension systems...

Here are 2 tips from someone who once mistook a brake pad for a shoe polish 😅 (true story, 2019 apprentice days were humbling!).

💬 Tip 1: Get Your Hands Dirty – Literally.
There’s no YouTube video that can replace the feel of removing a rusted caliper bolt or identifying a faulty shock absorber by bounce and squeak. I learned the hard way when I spent 2 hours trying to bleed a brake line... only to realize I hadn’t opened the bleeder valve 😭. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes — just learn fast!

💬 Tip 2: Ask Questions, Even If You Think You’ll Look Silly.
When I joined the IITA automotive unit in 2021, I used to follow the senior techs around like a detective. I asked so many questions they almost thought I was sent by HR 😅. But those questions helped me master brake system diagnostics and confidently work on fleet cars.

👉 Whether you're a lady like me breaking into this male-dominated field or someone just getting started, the key is curiosity + consistency.

Let the tools bruise you a bit — that’s how you build tough hands and a sharp mind.
