The Oyo State Government is working on the asphaltic rehabilitation of the 1.7 km Molete Under Bridge–Idi Odo–Challenge Road, a vital inner-city link between Challenge and Molete in Ibadan.

This road has long struggled with drainage problems that caused flooding and damage after every heavy rain. Now, the current reconstruction, handled by Ratcon Construction, goes beyond just resurfacing. It includes new drainage solutions and support structures that will keep the road durable and reliable for years to come.

Once completed, the improved route will ease movement for thousands of daily commuters, traders, and transport operators, making traffic smoother and safer for everyone.

Reconstruction continues on the 3.5 km Felele Idi Odo Junction–Splash FM–Onigari Expressway in Ibadan, Oyo State. This vital route, which had suffered years of deterioration, is now seeing progress.
Though the project is ongoing, significant sections have been stabilised, and drainage installations have been completed, particularly around Idi Odo, a known flood-prone area. These interventions aim to improve road durability and reduce seasonal flooding challenges for commuters.
This reconstruction forms part of the broader infrastructure improvement efforts across Oyo State. As work continues, residents can expect better connectivity and safer travel along this important corridor.

2027 Presidency:A Grassroots Mobilizer for Nigeria’s President in 2027.

Dr Kayode Phillips is in Osogbo, Osun State.

As Nigeria gears up for the 2027 general elections, a powerful grassroots movement across the country is rallying behind Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) potential presidential candidate.

Hailed as a transformative leader and grassroots mobilizer, Makinde’s achievements in Oyo State and his vision for a united, prosperous Nigeria have positioned him as a formidable contender to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and lead the nation into a new era of progress.

Governor Makinde, a PDP chieftain, has earned widespread acclaim for his people-centered governance, marked by significant strides in healthcare, education, infrastructure, agriculture, and security.

His administration’s roadmap for accelerated development in Oyo State (2019–2023) delivered tangible results, earning him the trust of citizens and sparking nationwide calls for his candidacy.

Supporters, including the PDP Youth for Makinde 2027 and other women and Youth Organizations, have praised his integrity, empathy, and accountability as qualities Nigeria desperately needs in its next president.

A Grassroots Movement Gaining Momentum
Makinde’s appeal transcends regional and political divides, with campaign posters proclaiming “Seyi Makinde Is the Answer” and “To Move Nigeria Forward 2027” appearing in strategic locations across Kano, Osun, Lagos, Delta, Oyo, Jigawa, Plateau, Bayelsa and other northern states.

Makinde has delivered real results in Oyo and he did it with focus, accountability, and a clear vision. That’s the kind of leadership Nigeria needs now.

Makinde’s ability to reshape Oyo State through human - friendly economic policies and infrastructure development, positioning him as a leader capable of addressing Nigeria’s economic hardship and political disillusionment.

Her Excellency, Engr. Tamunominini Makinde hosted over two hundred and fifty widows, in commemoration of this year's International Widows Day.

Her Excellency, who was represented by Hon. Olubisi Oluranti Michael, representing Ogbomoso North in the Oyo State House of Assembly, acknowledged the strength and resilience of the widows, who keep holding up the home front, despite the loss of their husbands.

Her Excellency called on all stakeholders to work together to ensure that widows have psychosocial support as well as challenge the cultural norms that discriminate against them.

In her usual manner, each of the widows present was given food items and cash gifts to help alleviate their burden.

from the stable of H.E Seyi Makinde Just before the Omituntun 2.0 Mid-Term Leaders Retreat this morning, I met a team from the United States Soybean Export Council (USSEC) led by the Regional Director for South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa, Kevin Roepke. The delegation included the Chair, Soy Excellence Centre, Nigeria, Dr Tola Johnson; and Country Lead, Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, Foluso Alabi.

Our discussions centred on possible collaboration and partnerships between the Oyo State Government and USSEC. I highlighted our accelerated soybean production initiative in Oyo State. We also discussed support by USSEC for production of non-GMO, organic soybean for the export market and increased soybean utilisation and value addition in foods, feeds and industrial usage.

As I said to the team, I am looking forward to presenting at the USSEC annual signature event tagged, “Nigeria Now” coming up on 25 June 2025 in Lagos.
