Ahead of his official declaration slated for April 17, 2027, Sen. Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, PhD, has taken a significant step in consolidating grassroots support by meeting with his Ward 03 Executive Committee in Ibadan North Local Government.

At the strategic gathering, the distinguished senator formally unveiled his ambition to contest the 2027 gubernatorial election in Oyo State. Addressing the Ward 03 executives, he expressed his readiness to offer purposeful leadership and a renewed vision for the state.

Senator Alli emphasized his commitment to contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the party as a strong vehicle for progressive governance and sustainable development in Oyo State. CRISIS IN OGBOMOSO AS FORMER SENATOR ADESEUN RESIGNS AS MAYEGUN

The leadership crisis in Ogbomosoland has taken a dramatic turn as former lawmaker, Senator Hamzat Ayoade Adeseun, has resigned from his position as the Mayegun of Ogbomosoland.
Adeseun announced his resignation amid rising tension in the ancient town and concerns over what he described as the leadership style of the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye.
The development comes weeks after the monarch, in a letter dated March 23, 2026, and signed by the Palace Secretary, Toyin Ajamu, announced the indefinite suspension of Adeseun from the chieftaincy title over alleged acts of insubordination and disrespect to the palace.

"Makinde pushes ahead with Alli’s crowning as Ibadan Obas boycott ceremony"

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, will today (Friday) formally present staff of office to newly-elevated crown-wearing Obas in Ibadanland.

The Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

Those to be crowned are the senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Sharafadeen Alli, who has been promoted to Ekaarun Balogun, Bolaji Adewoyin and Kola Babalola, who have been promoted to Ekeerin Olubadan and Ekaarun Olubadan, respectively.

No rift between the Oyo State Governor and Olubadan

The attention of His Imperial Majesty,the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja has been drawn to trending news that there is a rift between His Excellency,the Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Kabiyesi Olubadan.
We wish to make it abundantly clear that there is no rift between Kabiyesi and Olori omo oba of Ibadanland.
In addition,the Olubadan, did not travel out of Ibadan to avoid the coronation ceremony slated for Friday 3rd of April.
We wish to make it abundantly clear that Kabiyesi is hale and hearty in Ibadan,and performing the role expected of him as Olubadan.
For the avoidance of doubt,the three concerned High Chiefs due to be coronated have formally informed the Olubadan that they would be unavailable, and have, therefore, asked for postponement.
This information has been duly communicated to the State Government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters
