Veteran actor Dele Odule broke his silence following the burial of his close friend and colleague Taiwo 'Ogogo' Hassan with a heartfelt tribute, describing a friendship that stretched across nearly four decades.

Taking to his Instagram page, Odule shared a lengthy and deeply personal message. He wrote (in part), "My dear friend and brother of nearly 40 years. When we met as young men trying to navigate life, who would have thought we would form a bond that would last for decades.

My brother was a genuinely down-to-earth, free-spirited man. When Taiwo loved you, he loved you wholeheartedly. Always loyal, generous, and ever ready to stand by the people he cared about.

Ogogo the actor, Action man. The contributions you made to theatre, the successful people you nurtured, the legacies you left behind. All of these will be talked about for ages.

Since your passing was announced on Sunday, up till the point you were put in the ground, I have, with my own eyes, witnessed the entire nation mourn you. I have watched even young people share your legacy in the roles you have played.

I will miss you a lot, Taiwo. I will miss the happiness you always exude. Who will Yinka and I banter with now? You won’t be here to remind me that you are my big brother. You have left Yinka to continue that with me. We will both miss the brotherhood we shared for years. Your departure has left a space that cannot be filled.

Rest well, my brother. You will never be forgotten."

BREAKING: Tinubu Unveils 2027 APC Campaign Council — Yari Emerges DG, Uzodimma Named Secretary❤️🇳🇬

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has constituted the APC Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 elections, with the party unveiling a heavyweight team to spearhead its campaign.

Under the structure released Saturday, President Tinubu will serve as chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be vice chairman. APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will also serve as vice chairman.

Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has been appointed Director-General of the campaign council, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as Secretary.

APC National Secretary Senator Ajibola Bashiru and Hadiza Bala-Usman were named deputy and assistant secretaries respectively.

The council also features several prominent APC figures. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni will serve as deputy director-generals for the southern and northern zones.

Former Edo State Governor Senator Adams Oshiomhole has been assigned the mobilisation portfolio, while James Abiodun Faleke returns as deputy director-general for election planning, coordination and monitoring.

The campaign’s media and strategic communication team will be coordinated by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Dele Alake will lead a five-member team of campaign spokespersons, with Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Sh*ttu and Adamu Fanda also serving as spokespersons.

President Tinubu charged members of the council to work tirelessly toward securing victory for the APC in the January 2027 elections.

In a message accompanying the announcement, Tinubu urged the campaign team to highlight the administration’s achievements and convince Nigerians that the country is moving toward economic prosperity.

The President also directed campaign leaders to reach out to other party members who were not formally listed but could contribute to the campaign effort.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Saturday, August 22, 2026, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Oyebamiji Meets Tinubu, Shettima Over Osun Governorship Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the just-concluded Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, has met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Oyebamiji said his meeting with President Tinubu focused mainly on the outcome of the Osun governorship election and post-election developments in the state.

According to him, President Tinubu appreciated the steadfastness, commitment and resilience of APC members and supporters during the election.

The President also emphasised the need for a more united, focused and stronger APC in Osun State, while calling for peaceful coexistence among the people, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oyebamiji also met briefly with Vice President Kashim Shettima, who, according to him, offered words of encouragement and solidarity to the Osun APC family.

The APC candidate reaffirmed the party's commitment to seeking justice, defending democratic values and working for the continued progress of Osun State.

He further stated that the party would remain resolute and united despite the challenges arising from the election.

I would have won Osun election for Tinubu at all cost if he wanted it and there’s nothing the governor would have done — FCT Minister Nyesom Wike

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has claimed that President Bola Tinubu could have secured victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recent Osun governorship election if he had wanted it “at all costs.”

Wike, who remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said Tinubu deliberately allowed the election to take place without using the influence of the federal government.

Speaking on Tuesday while inspecting flood-prone areas in Maitama, Abuja, Wike said he would have supported the president if he chose to deploy federal might to guarantee an APC victory.
“If the president had wanted to win the Osun state election at all costs, I would have been there and we would have won it, and there’s nothing the governor can do,” Wike said.

Ademola Adeleke, the incumbent governor and Accord candidate, was declared winner of the August 15 election after securing 19 of the 30 LGAs, while APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji won 11.

Wike said the result showed that the federal government did not interfere in the election to favour the APC.
“There was no federal might used in Osun. When you see the force and might of the federal government, you will know,” he said.

He also suggested that Adeleke could have been a member of the APC if circumstances had been different.
“Ordinarily, Adeleke would have been with APC if things had worked out well,” he said.

Wike further predicted that Tinubu would have an easier presidential contest in 2027 than he did in 2023.
“The 2027 elections will be the easiest one for the President compared to 2023,” he said.

He attributed this to the weakened state of the opposition.
“This time around, the opposition has been crippled, homeless, no feather,” Wike added.
