Facts About the New Aláàfin of Oyo

Precisely 2 years, 9 months, and 9 days since the late Aláàfin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III joined his ancestors, the Oyo state governor on Friday 10th January 2025 declared the appointment of Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the next Aláàfin of the great Oyo kingdom.

Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade hails from the Owoade-Agunloye royal family of Oyo, with a lineage tracing back to Aremo Aderounmu Iyanda Owoade of Agure Compound.

The new Aláàfin attended Baptist High School, Saki, and holds diplomas in Mechanical Engineering from The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, and The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
